OTA Wants - Feature requests

Good observation. Probably at that era, they may not have implemented favorites yet.

While I agree to have ‘Home’ shortcut to get back from a (any) location, I do not think ‘Work’ location is useful. Do we need help of map to drive for daily commute? Personally I do not turn on map for known or daily routes.

Traffic! I use gmaps for traffic data and it has been more or less accurate for my commute.

  1. Much stronger regen (as others mentioned), but regen should work till we are down to 10kmph (as against current 20 kmph). Most of the speed breakers are unscientific and we have to use brakes to bring down the speed to 9-10kmph to cross comfortably. It would be an ideal, under normal riding circumstances, not to use brake levers…it will be more efficient.
  2. I feel it is better to have a single screen rather than switching screens between zero speed and non-zero speed. Its kind of annoying when the screen keeps changing when you are in bumper-to-bumper traffic (which is most times on ORR)
  3. Variable cooling fan speed based on the cooling needs, currently it seem to be running at full speed whenever its ON. Also its kind of strange to see that even after riding hard for 5-10 mins, cooling fan switches off as soon as we come down to 10-15kmph. Ideally it should be running for few minutes, it just cant heat up and cool down so rapidly. Maybe a better logic needed for cooling fan circuit rather than simple activation based on throttle position.

I think the Work shortcut is just as important according to me. Working in advertising, I might have to go meet clients for meetings, or go for photoshoots and get back to work from there, so having a favourite work pin would be quite useful.

I agree with your second point. Maybe it should switch from the speedometer to the main screen when the vehicle is idle for 10seconds.

Last OTA was pushed on 08th March. It is more than 2 months now. When can we expect next update with basic critical ones? For me, Night Mode is very critical and life saving.

@Ather.Team
Please consider shutdown option in mobile app.

Also vehicle motor should not turn on till side stand is disengaged or some sort of warning should be displayed on the screen

This was originally planned, but I understand they could not source a reliable quality sensor for this operation. Owners have already requested that this be a standard feature in the next iteration of the product.

Summarizing the OTA Wants after the last update
(I have tried to pool from various above posts)

Dashboard

  1. Colour themes
  2. Regen% Indication
  3. Eco Mode
  4. Date display along with time
  5. Hazard light function
…also hazard light function should work when park assist is engaged
  6. Charging - Battery % indication, Units consumed
  7. Display of Odo, Trip details during the run mode
  8. Better Trip reset handle (it is too small today)

Technical

  1. Reduction in Power loss in idle/shut down condition
  2. Unwanted shutdowns
…below 7% battery shutdowns are so frequent
  3. Unwanted blank screens
  4. Automatic cancellation of indicators that really works.
  5. Cruise control with +/- 5km speed control option
  6. Strong regen -atleast 70 - 80% than what it is now and option to choose regen level on app at least

Map Updates

  1. Directions to pin location or coordinates or plus codes, similar to the one in Google maps.
  2. Traffic status in Maps
  3. Power Consumption hue indicator in Map Mode
  4. Option to choose display orientation (between landscape and portrait)
…when portrait is selected half screen should be map and rest should display speed, odo, trip info, battery%, consumption of battery in Whr live…
  5. Ability to zoom out and in when navigation is on…
  6. Should zoom out and in based on speed so that curves ahead can be viewed without surprise… like google maps
  7. Optional audio warning/notification when turn is ahead as we cannot always look at display all the time while riding…
  8. Addition of compass for map aid (if user desires in the non navigation mode)

Hey @Shreyas
Is the Navigation used by the dashboard optimized for 2 wheelers? google maps provides an option to see the routes for cars as well as 2 wheelers. can we have an option to see this route too.

Also Can some portion of the map be made available offline? Vodafone has lots of black spots. Had to wander a bit to use navigation.

@rajeshkav - thanks for the summary. I would like to add a few to the list.

  1. Ability to see charging rate - Power being consumed real-time (KW) and Kms/min (charge being added). Would like to see this on the dashboard and mobile app.
  2. Reduce speedo error. This autocar magazine review suggests an error of ~10% compared to vbox.
    https://www.autocarindia.com/bike-news/ather-450-performance-tested-412959
  3. Rider profiles - use riding patterns to optimize scooter performance and range based on the individual.
  4. Access to more in-depth data about individual’s riding style. Providing some useful insights about accelerating and braking behavior can help us improve our riding and some tips to improve range.
  5. Ability to stop charging remotely from the app.

@Shreyas, would it be possible to share a list of upcoming or potential updates Ather team is working on and allow owners to vote on them. You can prioritize the development based on which features/functionality the users are more interested in.

thanks.

No.1 and 2 - are for OTA No.3 to 5 - are for Mobile App; which I will list separately (there is another thread)

I agree to this elicitation technique. User’s demands are to be heard and I hope Ather listens and prioritize their developments.
