I tested that out today, it will not allow you to start the motor when the side stand is down.
Yup they might have changed it but in my vehicle it was not like that and also in my vehicle if the vehicle is on and you put the side stand it does not cut off the motor.

Both of you got it right! Here’s how it works:

If the motor is off and you engage the side stand, it won’t let you start the motor. You’ll see the side stand icon on your dashboard. If you fold back the side stand, the indicator on the dashboard goes off and you can turn on the motor.

If the motor is on and you engage the side stand, it won’t cut off the motor. This is not a bug, but to prevent the motor from cutting off when riding in case the side stand is accidentally engaged when riding.

I think cutting off motor when side stand is accidentally engaged is not going to cause any issues for motor, when accidentally engaged side stand may cause accident to rider(with pillon also) and damage to vehicle right?
I agree with your point but I don’t think side stand would possibly not engage when we are driving, except of any extremely unusual situation…

if the side stand get opened while we passing through speed bumps/ some thing got stuck to side stand and it opens on the run, if the motor stops in middle of road it would be chaos.so better to prevent the motor from cutting off when riding .

Good to be cautious, but in real life it may not happen. Having driven through some horrible Bengaluru roads, the 450 eats them up like cheese cake.

Off topic, but I’ve found the shock absorption on the 450 quite average - about the same or worse than an activa and similar vehicles. The ‘good for bad roads’ promise hasn’t really worked out for me. Serviced twice complaining about it but they say there’s nothing wrong. Wonder how other 450 users feel about it.
Hi. I have my order booked from Indore. I recently swapped my order from someone from Bengaluru. Now I have my payment window open, what if I don’t pay ( because Ather hasn’t yet announced Indore on their list of cities) and wait for it to come to Indore? Will I still recieve Series 1? Or what benefits will I receive?
In my opinion, a ‘Side Stand’ check should be considered before the Motor is turned (after we turn on the ignition key) and that check should not happen later. If the side stand is pulled out after the motor turn on, indicator should just turn on. Another useful feature is audible alarm when the side stand is on.
