Tips on how to get good range from your Ather 450X

No mine is gen 3.1. No coasting regen yet. This is my personal best in last few months.

Single rider. No pillion. Charger in boot. PSI 30F and 33R. Sports mode throughout the journey.

@saranyam.13891 Yes, this is very helpful to me because I have a similar usage pattern with my Ather 450S in my daily routine. Previously, I kept riding it in S-ECO mode, but after reading your blog, I switched to RIDE mode. I’ve noticed that I usually ride within a range of 48-60 km/h. So now, I plan to try SPORT mode for a few days and will get back to you with the results.

I have one query about using the turn-by-turn navigation function on my Ather 450S. Do you have any idea how to use it?

Send the location from the Ather app to the scooter and press the push button when it says Location received

Excellent write up madam, so far I was happy getting around 100 kms range in smart eco mode, after studying your article, tried the sports mode maintaining around 50 to 60 kmph, I am getting a range of 100 to 120 kms.

Once again thank you very much.

Hi All, Am using 450x gen2 for past 2 years and 9 months recently facing range issues. Yesterday Ather shown 60kms range on screen and went for 28kms on moderate Chennai traffic when returned dashboard shown as 12kms remaining. I choose Ather instead of Ola because of accurate range. This issue worries me as we can’t travel more than 35kms in full charge

I have not yet tried the Smart.Eco mode.

I tried to do an efficient ride by throttling as per requirement plus coasting !

This was done with 5km range left, crawling to the nearest Grid (which was a Vida charger and one of the guns was melted, the other refused to work until I tried and re-tried for 15 minutes because I had no option)

AND

With a puncture in the rear tyre so it was sitting at 15-20 psi (later discovered there were 3 punctures)

I think on a good day, I can squeeze out 16-18wh/km

My Ather 450x Gen 3.1 has a serious issue where no matter how slow I go or how efficiently I ride it the efficiency figures are always whack and I always get poor range figures. When I drive in Smart Eco mode the scooter starts restricting me to < than 25km/h even without any hard acceleration. I tried the same with the showroom test vehicle and I was able to comfortably go above 50km without any reduction in power. Even the service guys are stumped at why this is happening. They ran diagnostics but nothing seemed out of the ordinary there. Can anyone help me understand what might be wrong with my scooter?

I saw a customer with the same issue and it seemed like a stuck update. Or maybe check with throttle assembly if it restricts on ALL modes too.

Maybe Its a Kind of Limb Mode bro, Where All mode will not cross above 25-27 KPH Bro.

Or else, As You said Throttle Assy needs a Change. Last Month One of Mate’s Apex faced that Issue.

This happens only on Smart Eco for me and if I change it to the other modes it removs the power restriction but the efficiency figures are super high even when I keep the power between the valley of the Wings on the dashboard. This has been the case ever since I purchaed the scooter. Everytime I bring this up the service center guys were dismissive of it saying its usual behaviour until I took them on a drive on both their test vehicle and mine. The test vehicle was able to do 50km+ topspeed on SmartEco for more than 2+km without breaking a sweat even with a rapid throttle response where as mine fell to 20km in the first few seconds.

But for some reason it isn’t happening on other modes but the range I am getting is abysmal on them. They have hooked it to the computer and didnt find any error. Wonder what might be at fault.

That is the availability of power you have due to inefficient riding. That is how SmartEco mode works. High efficiency riding leads to more availability of power depicted by different width in the Wings of Power.

Since, it is working fine in other modes there isn’t any issue.

You’ll understand if you switch the smarteco off and switch it back on.
