Tips on how to get good range from your Ather 450X

Hi iam using ather 450 plus since 3 months in visakhapatnam. I have been getting these wierd squeaky sounds from my vehicle. I contacted ather space in visakhapatnam and they said it is due to rain and the issue will be solved during my first scheduled service. My odo reading is only 1700 km and there still a lot of time for my first service. How do I resolve this problem? Please help

Try cleaning the belt drive

Yes I have tried cleaning it several times but no use.for a few minutes it will be ok but again the same noise😐

Maybe belt adjustment is what is required.

How much kw/h consumption by bike is considered ideal. And how do we try and get the ideal consumption rate? How does it affect the range of EV?

It can go down to 21 kw/h or lower if done good enough…

Efficiency & Range is proportional. Some one getting an efficiency of 25 Wh/km will get double the range of some one getting 50 Wh/km.

For Solo: < 25: Great 25-30: Good 30-35: Average

For Pillion: Add 5-10 depending upon the weight of the pillion.

I got only 60.8 km range even driving at efficiency of 33.3 wh/km. In this efficiency the projected range is about 85-88km but in real life it’s not even close to that, ather 450 plus have same hardware as 450x that means it also have installed battery pack of 2.9 KW but we plus owner have only access to 2KW which is not justified at the price of 1.7 lakh which ather is getting. They should gove us more access to the battery pack and increase the range rather than locking it so much that it’s affecting the range alot.

That’s what I am trying to figure out, My guess is that the battery pack is limited to 2.2KW in 450plus so its 100% is 70-80 percentage of installed battery pack so it’s not charging to its max voltage, second thing is in restricting the capacity the software have some bugs so it’s causing the issue and I am not getting the range which I should get.

The specs on Ather website clearly indicate that 450+ has less usable battery capacity and less true range as well. Also, 450+ cost was less than 1.70 lakhs when it was launched. I don’t think you would have paid 1.70 lakh for your 450+. As far as I remember, 450+ cost was 1.50 lakh when it was launched. I have a 450X Series 1 and I had bought it at 1.70 lakhs in Pune. The policy of limiting features for different prices is common in auto industry. I would understand your concern if you had paid 450X money and got 450+ features.

As for the bugs, yes I agree there are software bugs and they need to be fixed. As far as I know, most of the bugs don’t affect the range as such.

What @thakur.ketan said is correct. I also own 450X Series one and was one of the few customer who bought it very early and it cost me around 1.7 OTR.

And as for the range you are getting, you have usable battery capacity of 2.23KWh or 2230Wh. So if you devide your battery capacity by efficiency of 33.3Wh, you get around 66.9kms of range.

I bought it on May 2021 and yet it costed me 1.7L on road

Yes it cost me around 1.3 lakh but due to subsidy but company is getting full amount approximately 1.7 lakh so they should provide the range justifying that price, it does have battery capacity available in it it’s just they should increase the access bit more so that range can be sufficient considering the price range.

Will brand new bike conditions affect on range? Like normal bikes give less average when they are new, they are not smooth when they are new. (at least for 1st 1000 kms) Is it same with Ather 450x? Will it take few Kms to get smooth and better range?

Yes, however it will not be due to machine but due to throttle input which you will adopt in due course.

Agree. If people are comparing 450x vs + prices, there must be consideration that 450+ owners paid more than 450. Then why range or battery lesser than 450. It can be lesser than 450x but must be higher than 450

Yes that’s true features can differentiate both models but if real world range is under 80 then both vehicles should have access to 2.6-2.7 KW of battery pack because remaining buffer is more than enough for future. Everything is perfect, from suspension to ride quality to power to looks no issues there but only concern is vehicle have ability to get more range with the current hardware but company have locked it for the end user.
