In one of your earlier posts… It was mentioned that if we return scooter after lease term and they check for the condition of scooter before refunding the deposit amount and if they find any damages they would deduct a nominal amount and also this amount is set at ₹5K maximum limit … Now my question is,
Can Autovet define what kind of Damage will incur how much amount? Reason being, if this term of “Max ₹5K charged for damage” can be used as wild card term and can take advantage of it and charge us for ware and tares or some dent or some body external damages of scooter… (note: a similar experience happened with one of my friend, when he took zoom car for a weekend trip and finally when he went to return, in the name of some dent they deducted his whole deposit amount even though it was supposed to be covered by car insurance . This happened in initial days when Zoom car concept was new to Bangalore. )
I had called Uday this morning and had good 15mins discussion. A very professional guy and took all my questions in a positive way and responded well… I got some good confidence to buy through Lease option… Yes he is also will to buy our existing two-wheelers too…
Below are Minutes…
Just to summarize our discussions,
Providing more information(an illustrative example to start with) about what and what not is covered under ₹5K limit on deduction during return of e-bike after Lease term ends.
Please consider to include supplementary charger along with Ather bike during delivery and make it part of lease agreement.
If possible, please share a draft copy of lease agreement so that we will be more aware of the terms and conditions of lease agreement before we buy through Lease option.
Clear understanding of home fast charging point that will be installed for pre-order customers is part of bike cost and not a early bird offer when compared with lease option buyers.
I got a reply from Autovert … I am sharing it as mentioned below in quotes.
" 1) Providing more information(an illustrative example to start with) about what and what not is covered under ₹5K limit on deduction during return of e-bike after Lease term ends.
What constitutes general ‘wear & tear’ for the purpose of calculating the refund of upto Rs.5000/ at the end of the lease plan normal wear & tear of tyres, brake pads minor scratches on the body panels (this will exclude scratches made purposely - i.e. somebody inscribing their name, etc.!) normal ‘colour fading’ of plastic parts/ body panel regular wear & tear of rubber parts - ex. floor mat/ foot rests
What does not constitute general ‘wear & tear’ for the purpose of calculating the refund of upto Rs.5000/- at the end of the lease plan any broken/ damaged parts. For Ex. broken rear view mirror, cracked/ broken digital dashboard, damaged seat (i.e somebody has ripped/ slashed the seat), broken/ damaged front/ rear lights any missing parts - this will cover the vehicle in its entirety, including any charging station/ additional charging cable that has been provided at the beginning of the lease plan vehicle has to be in a ‘ride away’ condition at the end of the lease plan.
Please consider to include supplementary charger along with Ather bike during delivery and make it part of lease agreement. Yes, we are considering this, please give us a few days time to let you know the details.
If possible, please share a draft copy of lease agreement so that we will be more aware of the terms and conditions of lease agreement before we buy through Lease option. The link to the FAQs and T&C’s have been shared, which should answer most of your questions. Do let us know if you need any further clarifications.
Clear understanding of home fast charging point that will be installed for pre-order customers is part of bike cost and not a early bird offer when compared with lease option buyers. All the benefits and offers extended by Ather applicable at the time of your purchase will be included in the lease plan. For lease customers who pre-booked the Ather, the home charger is provided at no extra cost.
We appreciate the confidence you have placed in us and we look forward to providing you with the best possible service in the future.
Thanks and Regards,

Sharing an update on the insurance component we received by our insurance partner:
“According to a new IRDAI notice, if an individual already has a personal accident cover(of at least 15 lakhs) through another policy, it’s not necessary to purchase an additional personal accident cover at the time of vehicle insurance purchase. So, if you already happen to have a PA cover(>15 Lakhs), you simply have to declare it while completing your insurance purchase and your insurance cost would come down.”
We have adjusted the on-road price of the vehicle to reflect the same on the website.
I m surprised on one thing about how loan interest rate 8.5% was portrayed / advertised.
For quite some time I was thinking Ather (in partnership with Hero) is providing loan at 8.5 % which is lesser than market rate of 10.5 to 15%.
But very recently I realised Ather loan rate is 14.5% (reducing)the 8.5 % is just the flat rate which generally no lenders advertises that way (flat rate).
So basically Ather loan rate is equal or higher than market rate.
Some changes are expected. Price may drop by 2-3k.
Got a call from ATHER asking if I want to wait until after 10th of april. But I declined as I’m moving abroad on the 3rd week of April hence want to get the vehicle early and make sure my parents are able to adopt to the new “smart vehicle”.
