FAME 2 policy has new conditions like localization of parts, minimum 3 year warranty, new sticker on vehicle to indicate that vehicle comes under FAME scheme etc .
Not sure if Ather will get 3 year warranty instead of 2 going forward.

Yuck.
Oh, Not so noticeable goodâŚ
Iâll keep nail polish remover and a cloth ready for when I get the vehicleđ
I hope itâs not a legal mandate to leave it on the scooterđ¤
I donât have it in my Nimbus 450
New Price not updated on website @Shreyas. Is there any changes in Lease plans because of Scooter price reduction? Payment window opened persons please comment.
Waiting
@Shreyas My payment window is open since a long time, was waiting for Fame 2. Since this is also cleared⌠Can I go ahead and do the payment ? When will you update the price on the website ?
Can someone clarify please?
As per the new rule when we are taking one year comprehensive and 4 year third party insurance, if next year if we want to take comprehensive insurance we will be paying for third party also as I donât see a policy only for own damage alone.
In that case we are paying double premium for third party right?
Alternatively is there an option to buy 5 year comprehensive policy? It may or may not be worth to buy 5 year policy for few, but is there an option available?
Or, is there really an option to buy a policy without 3rd party damage (because we already bought for 5 years)?
Rule only mandates 5 year third party coverage for 2 wheelers. It doesnât mandate own damage cover.
If you add own damage coverage, it becomes a comprehensive policy.
You can buy just the own damage coverage.
You can also buy comprehensive cover for all 5 years now itself.
Yeah, Rule mandates 5 year term only on 3rd party.
For the subsequent years, does any insurer allow us to buy with only Own Damage? At least I could find during my search.
Actually, if you see the premium breakup for insurance policy for most scooters (scooty to Activa 125), third party damage is fixed and takes major %.
Third party damage 720
own damage plus zero depreciation 200-400
So going forward, insurers actually have to give an option of getting insurance only for Own damage alone. Otherwise, we will be paying 720 + GST every year in addition
Fuel cost of 10k for 5 yearsâŚthatâs approx 5k kms of riding for 5 years and 1k kms per year!!
You must have put monthy figure and forgotten to add up the remaining 11 months in every year. For 5 years, Iâd say 60k kms and at least 1,20,000 for fuel.
10329 rs for 5 yearsâŚwow. do u plan to ride the scooter only national holidays?
Oops, I was doing some formula change and messed it up. Deleting the old to post just to avoid confusion.
Few of my colleagues were asking just from the Cost perspective how Ather 450 fares against Activa 125 or Ntorq 125. This comparision was not about features only about Cost of Ownership. Did this calculation for different combination (600 km / month, 750 / month, 900 km / month. For 3 years and 5 years). If anything needs correction, pls let me know.
I did a small sampling in my office of scooter commuters. Average distance was < 25 km / day bracket as most of the long distance commuters were using office transport or public transport or car (or car pooling).
Posting the calculation for 900 km / month
900 km / month - 5 Years usage:
900 km / month - 3 Years usage:
Also can you calculate what if we sold the vehicles after 3/5 years.
i.e. account for depreciationâŚ
What would be the actual cost from our pocketâŚ
My take, from you post is Ather One Plan is best after one year.
(Consider new buyers, they are not into AtherOne for 1st yr.)
Also Can you make a Comparision with Suzuki Burgman Street and April SR160. I think it should be a level above Activa/Ntorq.
