I noticed something odd in my scooter. When I apply brakes, the front or the back, I feel some weird jerks. The jerks are like when we lightly apply and release breaks multiple times.
This sounds like ABS in action
Just wash theroly with car wash shampoo and after drying clean the disc rotor with isopropyl alcohol.
Hi Omkar, According to Ather Service Final Check list
At 3.3 MM, They will Suggest to Change it.
Red Flag is at 3 MM
But I have used it till 1.8 MM, In this Case Rotar Blade may get Damage in Bumper to Bumper Traffic. So Better Changing at 2.6 to 2.8 MM is Fine
I wish it was that . But the 450X does not have hardware required for ABS. So I’m guessing there is an issue?
I guess I’ll just get the fronts changed then, thank you
Gotcha! So it’s not unsafe, it’ll just be expensive if I don’t get them replaced in time
Thank you, this will help. I will also compare with new ones at the SC itself
Ok I’m close to 5k servicing I will check this at Ather servicing if brake pads are needed to be changed or not thanks for explaining.
Yeah Little Expensive
Yeah Ask them to Remove the Break Pads and Check the MM. Then Decided.
Anytime for Atherites
When did you get the brake pads replaced?
It could be a warped disc or uneven pad wear maybe
Which One bro, Cant get your Query
The darker area on the tire edged, is it fine?
Paddock your 450X at any good bike shop and accelerate gently and listen for any gringing noises from the rear wheel when you apply rear brake. If you hear any noises, the issue could be mechanical (including any foreign matter stuck somewhere or some misalignment issues). If not it could be hydraulics issue.
If the dark strips are on both side, that means you have a under-pressure tyre. Or could be heat warping when running on hot road for long trip.
I did not get any brake pads replaced. My scooter is just 3 months old and it clocked 2500KMs on the Odo.
Check Tyre Air Pressure frequently. On Next Visit, Check the Tyre Allignment
It could be under pressure. I get regular top ups and I have noticed both the tires loose around 3-5 psi every month.
I check the temperature of disc rotors and tires regularly after every long ride so not heat fosho.
Welp. Sounds like you would have to pay a visit to the SC
