Hi all … I was told that one of my friend got series 1 edition and that the panels are not translucent… he was told that in may month he would be called again for changing the panels to translucent… has this happened to anybody else ?
How is it to maintain series 1 ? Does it become scratchy all over …after some time ?
No one has got the Series1 translucent panels till now. Everyone will get it in May 2021 as per the announcement made by Ather. Till then it’s only black.
This is the first time we’re seeing a translucent panel on a vehicle. So long term maintenance in terms of scratches…nobody knows!
So I got my vehicle finally on 24th Feb, 40 days after I paid the complete amount. After a point, almost every day I was getting warned by my folks that this is way too long and that Ather is taking it lightly . For the reference of others, here’s a stage-wise breakdown of time taken:
Bank and Ather together took 6 days to confirm the payment (cheque) and generate invoice (Sat to Fri)
I took 11 days to make my payment for insurance (paid finally on a Monday)
Insurer (Edelweiss via Autovert) took 2 days to issue my policy
No updates from Ather for next 5 days (including weekend, which is when I visited the EC for follow-up)
I was told that there was an issue with the Vahan portal on the following Monday (8th Feb), first for my preferred RTO (KA04) and next for all RTOs. I do not exactly doubt this, but another vehicle purchase in the family was in progress and that salesperson had no knowledge of this.
The issue continued to be present till the following Monday (15 Feb), after which the registration process finally started, where I received an OTP from Vahan.
The physical documents were then uploaded on Wednesday by the agent.
I received the registration number from RTO on Thursday evening
Friday went in waiting for the registration plate to arrive, but by Saturday they told me that the software of the vehicle still has to be updated, after which the pre-delivery preparation has to happen. Now these could obviously have been parallelised with registration (Neither team works on Sundays)
Finally on Monday (22nd Feb) I was called to tell that delivery slot was available on Tuesday, but my dad thought it was not a good idea (astrology) and so we scheduled for Wednesday.
Note that all this was with almost daily follow-up calls.
My assessment is that the serial processes, coupled with weekends, are definitely making the purchase process longer than they could be. In my case, the 11 day delay in insurance obviously was entirely on my account, while the Vahan portal being down (as far as I was told by Ather) was again out of their control.
As far as a customer you are satisfied or convinced that is what matters. So I wish every thing goes well from now with you getting satisfaction from your purchase.
Now coming to the matter in your case there is a little delay from your side and may be or may not be a delay from third party. But lot of customers had faced issues in deliveries and also in delivery time period. Of course not me ( I am lucky in this case as both of my purchases went with smooth deliveries with in time). So there are lot of gaps that Ather has to fill in this entire process.
Not everything Ather says can be true (its a 50:50 ratio). Do you know the trick used by many magicians the sleight of hand to make the audience keep excited and puzzled by the trick they always come up with a beautiful story around the magic which is so amazingly written to believe the magic, some times there is some truth built into it to make it more realistic. This entire process is like a Sleight of hand we don’t know the actual factors of delay and we will be mesmerised by the presentation of story. (JAADHUGAR )
Yes exactly, I know not all of it may be true, but even if I give full benefit of doubt there are some unexplainable and conspicuous delays. The registration plate need not have arrived for software update, and there were 3 full working days where absolutely nothing happened. Ather definitely needs to tighten up.
Another frustrating thing is that the helpline personnel didn’t seem to know the actual current status, they only knew a standard flow. In my case, the Form 20 was already with them, but they kept telling me that the next step was that someone would visit my home and collect a signature. Similarly for the software update, where they kept saying the registration plate hadn’t arrived. It seems as if the teams actually doing the work are not really reachable by the helpline folks.
Here’s the kicker: the helpline people
Cannot transfer to any of the teams (delivery/RTO/software, etc.)
Cannot transfer to any other helpline executive by name
Cannot send an SMS confirmation of anything
Will only send email confirmation if I specifically request and pressure them on it
They can only arrange for a callback. I don’t know if I’m a unique case, but given spotty cellular reception, I find this suboptimal.
I don’t know if there is any escalation path to a manager, I haven’t tried.
I want to be fair here: the helpline is absolutely better than say Vodafone, and they do have the basic info on tap. But considering that the normal vehicle purchase process from the dealer has a salesperson/agent who’s the single point of contact, having no one person you can call makes you feel helpless. For a company promising a premium experience, this isn’t good enough at all.
Payment made on March 4th. I had taken application number from the ather team for tracking Vehicle Registration at KA41 RTO. Status says Pending for new RC approval. It’s been already more than week since the collection of Form 20(March 6). I have seen in forum for many guys registration number is generated the very next day after receiving OTP. Please follow up with the RTO agent or do something about this.

Ather has stopped its Deliveries of 450X due to new sms regulations by TRAI, as fame II subsidy not been able to process with out the Aadhaar authentication, but even VAHAAN registration they are not initiation stating that sms won’t come, but every day I am getting sms from Banks, online portals like policy, grocery. But my friend bought a Bike recently (yesterday delivery) the Registration was successful and he got his bike as well. I kept following up with customer care and the person incharge for registration third party (VINOD) he doesn’t lift the call only. Awaiting the right person to get in touch. to seep up the delivery process.

@Kiran.Arian I am in the same boat as you, I feel they are keeping us in the dark about this. Is there anyone here who has got any 450 in the past few days in Bangalore ?
Just to post an update. They have scheduled my delivery finally for this Friday. They have asked to bring a post dated cheque incase the fame 2 otp doesn’t come through on the day of delivery and will be duly returned when the otp works. They will not en-cash it and is used as a security in the event that fame 2 is not applicable (previously claimed subsidy on another e-vehicle).
@abhishek.balaji Update on my order, got the Vehicle Registration Number and shared it across the ather team. They told that they have to receive the msg as well and only then they would order HSRP plate. This was via call. Via mail they told thanks for sharing and that they would order the HSRP plates . Should be expecting call for delivery. Website hasn’t updated from insurance to vehicle registration done.
Many look for Auspicious days to bring home a new vehicle. Like I do.
Is it ok to postpone or take the bike home on a specific date after it’s confirmed/ready for delivery?
No Rush! Whatever day the delivery date might be, or how much ever the delay be.
I’ll take it home on the very next Auspicious day. Within 5 to 10days.
I finally got my 450X yesterday in Bangalore. Lacklustre delivery process… the excitement was already killed with the delay. They made me wait half hour for a portable charger that I’d already paid for !!
Anyways…I have the bike and hope the experience is good from now on…!!
Exactly same experience which I penned in another post, the guy wasn’t all that interested to speak right? We didn’t want some big unveil like cars but then some enthusiasm from the guys there would have made it a bit better experience, delivery at IBC?
Yes IBC. No enthusiasm in their work. My bike was dirty with dust all over…and he almost ignored us until my wife yelled at him and some security chap came running with an old cloth to clean. The storage under the seat was fully dusty too !!
