I agree with your case and mine are same
Happy to know that Ather team has made a good move. Very nicely done. @abhishek.balaji @tarun
Goodbye to,
- Abusers who are deliberately charging only at charging stations queuing up to do time pass,
- Rage delivery boys, who has broken the chargers and solenoid mechanisms in the scooters by removing forcefully when the owners are away. Making owners go crazy and clueless when they return or creating a hassle to run back to grid.
- And uncles who don’t have work at home and doesn’t get sleep, charging 24/7 at the nearby grids creating hassle to an emergency system.
People who are complaining about the ₹1/ min. Will you bear the production cost of the charger? Will you go out on the field and go through hassle the business team convincing getting permission from malls, cafes and shops to install the grid? Will you pay the salaries for the Ather Grid team? Or will you pack back the amount all the free charging you had for years? If it’s a simple no. Then it’s a big no on the price I think.
People who think logically and have gone through the hassle at the grids know the move is right.
I am surprised at these discussions and disappointments not just from few, from so many.
1 - I didn’t know so many people are using fast charger so frequently that everyone is worried about operational cost. In fact, we should be more worried when BESCOM increased the charges so high recently as 95% charging happens at home.
People whom I know and own Ather (at least 6-7 people) are not using fast chargers much. I have used ~15 times in 3 years. Except for delivery agents or people who are having long runs every day, I could not think of genuine reasons to charge it so often at the grid?
2 - If Ather is providing only charging points and asking them to use their own charger at slow charging speed, then it is valid to argue about electricity price vs Ather Grid Price. Here, it is about a fast charger which requires cost to invest and maintain, and probably hidden cost to the host apart from electricity cost reimbursement.
Actually, with grid you are saving a big investment cost of not needing to buy the portable charger at 15k.
Ideally, like Connect and Assure Program, an Ather Grid subscription at lower rate might make it more affordable. But, then it will again lead to abuse (because I paid, I em entitled for unlimited charging). Even if Ather comes up with subscription, it should actually never be free. It should like pay 99/month and charge at 50p/min.
I dont know why peoples crying? Grids for top up only, some users using grids for escaping electricity bills from home. It’s too late but finally charging um happy. Telangana it should rollout immediately eagerly waiting
Worst desicion ever by Ather team. Fast charging is almost 5 times more than home charging. I think the adoption of EV become less. Due to higher fast charging rates. No doubt we get higher amount of charging grid availability. But price should be only 0.5 to 0.7 ps per min.
This is called mixed response from the customer:laughing:![]()
I agree with you.
This is Unfair keeping charges for new customer. Even they purchase Ather they also contribute build Ather image in ev market as good product. At least each customer Ather give 3 years free charging facilities. Hopefully Ather team will be taking my suggestion.
In Trivandrum, the Ather grid chargers counts have reduced from 9 chargers to just 3. They randomly work or don’t and it’s a mess that people are queueing up and wasting their precious time. Especially near the IT parks where non natives live.
Even though we all are ready to pay 45-60 rs per charge, it does NOT solve the queueing issue. The ratio of grid chargers to scooters are pathetically less. Grids are stopping working one by one and I don’t know what Ather is doing about this.
Grids have been taken back to Bangalore as per what the shop owners told me, and it’s been more than a month and it’s getting difficult. ![]()
I feel this is cheating type case. If you count that we have to pay rs 1/min means almost rs for 90/full charge. Then it’s better to take the non ev vehicle and fill the same fuel in just a minute and also the vehicle cost is half then Ather vehicle. At this moment as a Ather owner I feel that I have been cheated by Ather company.
I suggest you can take a minimum ammount i.e. rs 0.25/min then it will not effect your customer also.
If you started to take rs 1/min then at least I will suggest my family and friends to buy a non ev vehicle instead of ev vehicle.
Pls Ather owners pls don’t recommend or refer to buy Ather to anyone , decision making should be bottom to top ,not from top to bottom Why forum was introduced to debate abt any issues but remedies should come from people requirements not from the management side
If you increase charging grid in state & central govt offices with govt tie ups they will
free with negotiations with govt team come up grids for every 3 kms radius atleast
Very soon Ather going lose its place ,go back to were they start very soon , congratulations team fall in sale of Ather bike pan India
No wonder how much the Grid-Hoarders are gonna cry in this forum, I think this is the best long-pending decision they have taken. Think of this as now you will have less time to wait in the grid to charge, No one will take benefit of free charging.
Those who think I bought an expensive scooter, now I need free charging, No you are not getting one, This was never in the sales pitch. But now you will find most of the grids empty as the cost is 5x, and people will finally start using their home chargers. Grid charging was never meant to be daily use. It’s only for emergencies.
Price calculator is based on time is too worst thing. Electricity is need to be charged in kW only. Ather is selling ther ev in over priced and they started to use ther charging grid is also over priced… Change the charging tarrif in kW that is unit bassed… We chose ev for petrol is going over priced . But now you guys are also over charging for the electricity means. It’s difficult to choose EV.
For most people for most top up scenarios, charging based on time / kW would mean same.
But, for the scenarios where any of the below leading to slow charging, means end up paying more for the additional time. a) faulty charger b) ambient temperature c) vehicle temperature
People defending this move simply argue that grid abusers are upset and that the grid is for quick top-ups, which I agree with, but today “it took me 40 minutes to charge 11% of charge, which is hardly 13kms or 14kms of range.” This is exactly why they should charge based on the number of units consumed. Why should I have to pay extra because of the company’s poor grid maintenance?
Where you at 0% ? As lithium battery has to slow charged to 15% until fast charging can happen. This is make sure batteries are not damaged. But you are correct. They can charge 5x but atleast they should charge accordingly to the usage and not time.
Most people defending here are defending on charging the grid usage and not letting it be free. But, not adamant on Time vs Watt.
That’s something Ather has to justify if the speed of charging is going to be at luck.
If significant % of people faces like what you have faced, then it would be frustrating.
Even people won’t know how much time it would take to charge. Everyone would like to get a predictability on the amount they are going to pay, which will be difficult if done based on time.
This is the actual way of reducing crowd.
It was 67% when I plugged in and 78% when I plugged out. It should have taken no more than ten minutes.
In Ather App, Report that the charger is not functioning as it should and to get it rectified. as in the upcoming days this will be a sore issue.
