Charging without crowding

I don’t understand the sycophancy of defending Ather for what is a unfair and predatory pricing that will harm the ev adaptation.

It’s obvious common sense that grids are here to allow people to charge, now saying I don’t remember grids being marketed that way is just a illogical argument.

Tesla grids offer various speeds of charging and the cost of using the fastest charging on an average 20% higher than the cost of charging at home. The billing is based on kwh consumed and not per minute unlike Ather who are charging 100% higher than the cost of charging at home.

Nowhere have i mentioned in my post that free charging should continue, but when people disagree on wanting fair price and simply defend paying double it’s just puzzling.

This forum has a cult following, mate. No matter how logical your argument might sound, you are gonna get ridiculed by most people on here if it’s against Ather (which I find weird as well).

I suggest you to research a bit about the types of Tesla supercharging before commenting on unsubstantiated claims. Secondly, adding a slower tier to the charging seems like a legitimate request but that can’t be factored into the cost of fast charging. Reintroducing a plug to connect for portable chargers could be one of the solutions.

This would have made charging cost much cheaper. But if all the charging points are busy using slow portable charger, it would still lead to unavailability of chargers.

May be in every grid, they can additionally provide 1 charging point dedicated for portable charger.

I suggest you research first before asking others to do the same before commenting lol. You’ll just embarrass yourself mate. Whatever state you take to make the grid pricing as expensive as possible and home charging as cheap as possible the cost difference won’t be over 30-35% which is still much lower than 100% or higher charged by Ather.

I can’t understand the basis of you defending double the cost+gst.

I don’t care if it’s slow or fast charging all i care about is the pricing. It should be reasonable and billed on units consumed not time taken.

I was talking about the claim that Tesla bills per kWh pricing that’s not true for all of its chargers a certain percentage of those chargers bill you on the basis of per min. You’re comparing the price of electricity and not the overheads that factor in like the cost of charging setup the maintenance cost of the charging network and excess overdraw added while fast charging. I myself agree that the price should rather be based on x% of SoC/x+gst model.

In Mumbai with about ₹11/unit household charge it would still take ≈₹33 to get a full charge on the household electric connection which would take about 5hrs or higher if same is achieved at even ₹90 in ≈ a hour of charging isn’t that much of big jump??

Firstly add gst so it’ll be just over 100 bucks. That’s 200% increase. isn’t a big jump? Charging from around 10-80% took me 65-70 mins. I’m assuming 0-100% taking 90 mins.

Justifying saving of time savings of 4 and half hours isn’t worth that big jump in price bcoz ultimately it’ll take the same amount of units as slow charging, and the faster charging tech isn’t worth that huge jump in price as even Tesla charges rates much cheaper even compared to their regular home rates even though their charger output is much higher compared to Ather for obvious reasons.

Why not go for ICE instead? It’ll cost between 120-200 bucks for similar mileage depending on type of bike/ scooter and wait time of 30 seconds to fill the petrol.

Even with all that added the current pricing just doesn’t work out in advantage to EV vs ICE.

Given the cost and wait time and the premium pricing, especially people who travel a lot for work and used to rely on the grid a lot will may no longer find paying a premium to purchase an ev appealing due to low cost of running and maintenance as it no longer hold true.

As for the tesla grid charging per kwh, i read in an article.

Curious - How much are other vendors (like Zeon) charging? Long back I remember reading in team-bhp that they were charging 18-20 / unit. Some vendors were charging per hour also (like 200 / hour for cars)

Close to ₹25/kWh with tax

So that means 25 rupees / unit?

With that rate, if we charge Ather it will be 75-90 rupees per full charge, depends on model.

Yes, ₹25 is standard for most providers but Tata Power and Shell Recharge charge higher for higher power chargers like 100kW-120kW fast chargers. Those can get closer to ₹30-35/unit irrespective of whether the vehicle can take that much power or not…

And you could with the peculiar conundrum that you face wherein home/office charging is impossible for you and grid is your only source to rely on cost wise without a 3rd party outlet ICE is a better option for you if you also happened to go beyond a daily average of 90-130 km; but all of this thought comes as a onus onto the owner not to the company don’t know why everyone thinks that a green mobility or any green company should be pariah for the people?

That’s not for all of the zip codes some are per min and each has a different prior subscription tier attached to it.

Subscription for non Tesla users.

Tesla charges based on kWh while charging, and per minute post charging.

Which 2W fast charging vendor has paid charging today in India?

Still ignoring the fact that the onus is on the company for it’s predatory charging rate?

Also the green thing is just a last ditch defense when people in the ev space can’t prove any longer the benefits it provides against ICE.

We are only talking on merit. The fact remains not everyone can charge at home or office let alone both. They rely on the grid.

The grid is marking up the price over double than the actual cost of electricity. It simply can’t be defended while other similar comparison (tesla) offering more advanced charging tech for way way cheaper.

The onus is on the Ather for taking advantage of their unfair advantage of having the largest grid and forcing the customer to almost pay petrol rates to charge their ev.

@pdhananjaypatil should have done your research mate

There are few members here who is going to support Ather no matter what the company does. No point in arguing with them.
