I also encountered this issue and was scolded by another rider.
Designing a new software interface for the Rizta instead of importing the same OS as the 450X could be due to the different hardware and user experience requirements. The Rizta has a more relaxed UI and different chassis, which may necessitate a unique software approach.
Dear all,
I have some doubts. I watched a video where the person explained about modes in electric vehicles. If we use Smart mode, it gives range by reducing the motor power. However, if we give full throttle in Smart Eco mode, it will strain the motor and because we are forcing the vehicle to move faster while the mode is trying to limit the vehicle’s speed. The person gave an example that using Smart Eco mode in an EV is like using a petrol scooter in 1st gear. your thoughts???
What happens when we use only the magic twist in a Ritza? I am using only the magic twist because I ride at 30-40 km/h in the city and sometimes on highways at 60 km/h.
- Will it affect the motor after heavy usage?
- Will it affect the accelerator cable?
- Will it affect the battery during regeneration?
Good queries to know I am also wanted to know the answers for all of the above questions . Also
- Can we know how much coasting regen produced the energy in bike in Rizta z .
This is not true at all. Misinformation.
SmartECO is like a nitro bar in a video game. It will give you a small “boost buffer” for overtaking, but if you keep using it constantly by using too much throttle, it will temporarily limit your boost and force you to ride slow, to compensate for the acceleration.
There is no strain on any motor in any mode. Everything is electronically limited.
It’s true that you can extract good range in Sports mode (for 450x). But what’s also true is that you can extract any range in any mode.
You can have both, good range and bad range in Sports. Same for Eco. Completely depends on your riding pattern.
One tip is: try to use as little brakes as possible. that way you will indirectly limit yourself from accelerating, unless and until necessary.

Its shouldn’t. Most likely the affected thing would be the controller.
It basically turns your motor into a generator. The motor will collect the energy from your wheels rotating, and send it back into the battery.
Along with electrical energy, heat energy is also a byproduct. So it heats up your electronics a little bit. But it’s too minor to have any negative effect on any component. Thats also why, in 450 Apex, when you use too much Warp+ and Magic Twist together, the system heats up and limits the power. Even that won’t cause any damage since the system has already limited the power before it overheats.
The Rizta has the same motor as the 450 series, and they have reduced the available power for Rizta. So don’t worry, ‘heavy usage’ on a Rizta is still only utilising 60-70% of the motors potential.
There’s no accelerator cable. It’s just a wire running into the system.
It could but Ather battery packs are built like a rock. Nothing will happen.
I am a new owner of rizta (almost 2 weeks), previously was a TVS iQube owner. The reason for switch is for larger seat and space compared to iQube ,otherwise I was quiet happy with the iQube. Listing below some of my experiences and thoughts as how rizta could have been better.
Range
My average daily usage is 8-10KM , I was hoping with smart eco I could easily get 75-80KM range (similar to iQube), however the range has been very poor. I have done two charging cycles so far (100%) and tried to measure the range.
- For the first iteration, I have driven from 100% to 5% charge (approx 98% SE and 2% in zip) and could get range of 62KM.
- For the next iteration, I mostly used zip (95%) and could get a range of 52Km (100-10%).
Note, there is a pillion rider always and I am not sure if this extra weight is causing the range issue. My iQube (Model S) was giving a range of around 70-75KM in Eco mode. This is a letdown for me, but I hope the range might increase as I ride more and get a feel of how to extract the best range from the vehicle.
Also, there is a drastic drop of 2% charge over-night which is unheard with iQube. Not sure, why the telemetry has to eat so much power when the vehicle is turned off. I am now shutting down every night to see what happens.
Riding
Smart ECO mode really struggles to pull even on smaller inclines and the struggle compounds if there is a pillion rider. I am still not used to the switch positions and hence struggle to switch between the modes . Most of the times I have to take my eyes off the road to the handle to locate the switch and change mode. With iQube, I could simply press the power button and the mode would switch. It was intuitive in my opinion. Again, I hope that my muscle memory would be tuned sooner for the locations and I don’t have to look at the handle to change modes.
Display and UI
- Dark mode is missing. Period.
- UI always reset to some default values and the settings I chose are not persistent. Not sure if this is by design or a simple software issue.
I hope I could get some insights and suggestions from the existing owners and really expect my rizta to live up to its name.
In Smart Eco?? visit SC
Many people are facing it; Ather should look into it.
The most desired feature remains, yet Ather unheard.
Software glitch
Today, I have taken my Rizta for servicing at 5096 kilometers and after 156 days. They informed me that service cost be 750 rupees. Has else serviced their Rizta at the 5000-kilometer service? If so, could you share your experiences and any issues you faced after the service to help others?
I have same issue.
Yes, First Service done for my Rizta, costs around Rs. 750/-
After first service, riding especially suspension became smooth, I think they have adjusted suspension things. Before it was very hard.
After how many kms did you do your first service?
how many kms
Anyone experiencing a blank display with slight light while charging the Rizta? Last night, I plugged in the Rizta to charge and after two minutes, the display went, with some light coming from the corners.
5000+ kms covered. Now it’s near to 6000km
Anyone facing rear suspension issue in Rizta z 2.9? My Rizta Z 2.9 rear mono shock up gone within 6 months, dropped vehicle at service centre, they said they need approval form Ather before replacement, raised ticket using app. Let’s see what happens. But very much disappointed with quality of the product
