Can someone please tell me what happens to the old subscription plans?? Should the 450X users still have to pay Rs.8400/year for Ather One plan even after choosing the monthly pro/plus subscription for charging on grid & for maintenance??

Now that there’s some more info,

The subscription plans include Ather Charge subscription, which includes connectivity, unlimited public charging at Ather Grid, all data charges, data usage and pipeline costs, and OTA updates.

Further, for those who have pre-ordered the collector’s edition, servicing is free for the first year.

We will have other options should you want charging reimbursements and other add-on services, and will share details soon.

thank you so much for clarifying @abhishek.balaji. so the Ather dot will continue to work and reimbursement will not be given. meaning i can charge the vehicle from my electric expense and subscribe to Ather service for ota, connected services, and Ather vehicle service. am i right?

what i thought was if i dont subscribe to any of the services that provides home or public charging i will not be able to charge the vehicle at all even if i have Ather dot installed at my home.

Not at all, you can continue to charge and ride the vehicle, but won’t be able to use features such as navigation, ride stats, location tracking etc, which need data connectivity.

Disappointed with the 450x subscription pricing model for battery.

450x is very good with features its giving. But There is no way I can own this vehicle with this pricing model. I currently use 800 INR per month for fuel. 450x is going out of budget.

Unless they revamp pricing model, its definitely disappointing.

There are two options to own a Ather 450X:

Pay the upfront cost of 1.49/1.59L, where you own the scooter completely.

• This gets you a standard 3 year warranty on the scooter and the battery. In these 3 years, if your battery degrades to 70% or lesser, we’ll replace it as per warranty.
• Since you’re buying it upfront, you can opt for subscription to Ather Charge or Ather Connect or Ather Service. It is NOT mandatory.

Pay 99k and pick a Pro/Plus performance pack:

• This means you own the scooter without the battery and pay for the battery as a subscription, unlimited warranty, data services, over-the air updates, unlimited fast charging at Ather Grid. This way, you can own the scooter with a much less upfront cost of 99k.
• This also means that if your battery degrades to anything less than 80% of its original capacity, we’ll replace with a new one. This works like your regular warranty, but for the entire lifetime of the scooter.
• This plan would be ideal if you want your scooter to provide a consistently high performance throughout its life, without you ever worrying about degradation.
• There is an exit option from the subscription, right from day one. Along with the option to pause upto a month, when you’re not going to be using it.

If the battery subscription plan doesn’t make sense to you as a light user, you can choose to buy the vehicle upfront at 1.49L or 1.59L. With light usage, your battery degradation is likely to be minimal, and the usable battery life would be longer than that of a heavy usage scenario. It anyway comes with a warranty of 3 years, but the battery has been built to last much longer, so you won’t have to worry about replacement for several years.

I use suzuki Gixxer bike ots Average is 40km. My monthly run is about 700 to 1000 km . Its about 1500₹ to 1800₹ per month . Now pls anybody tell me why I buy this Ather 450x . Its subscription plan is equal to my monthly expenses. I think 150cc bike can perform better than Ather. Now I am thinking to cancel my pre-order because its cost is 1.50k its too costly also…

For a long time, EVs represented a compromise in performance and the only justification to switch to an EV was cost savings. However, that is no longer true.

An electric vehicle like 450X represents a huge shift in performance, and the intelligence features that it offers is changing the game. 450X’s acceleration is hard to match for most scooters today - petrol or electric. The smart features enabled by connectivity and touchscreen dashboard aren’t available in any other vehicle out there. And the fast and super-fast charging available on 450X has in-built technology that is years ahead of all its rivals. So, fundamentally, 450X is worth switching to for the vastly superior product that it is.

Oh wait! For this money, centre stand and rear leg support not included. What they should have concentrated in the upgraded version is distance, not speed. Centre stand, not Bluetooth connectivity where I can listen to music (for some reason they thought that Indian two wheeler riders were missing on that). This has been designed and redesigned by people who do not own scooters. Try parking in a crowded parking lot like a Mall with a side stand and you will know. The more I think about it, the more this is not a scooter for me.

Very very disappointed. But the good thing is that other options from other companies are cropping up every month now. Cancelling my prebooking. I was getting a free T-shirt only anyway.

The team tried hard to incorporate a center stand, but with the placement of the battery, it was not feasible.

We’re sad we could not meet your requirements of a scooter, but would be glad if another EV suited your needs. It definitely helps build the EV ecosystem in India!

Bluetooth not included in the lower subscription plan? I thought Bluetooth frequency is free and now that is also charged here. Wow.

Bluetooth is is not exactly free. Every company which integrates bluetooth in a device incurs certification and licensing fees. To add to this, there are costs in developing the required services and software to enable you to connect seamlessly with existing devices.

Exactly… You can not accelerate the adoption of ev everywhere with these pricings and subscriptions. I’m really disappointed…

Mentioned this during the AMA, but currently most EV scooters with similar specs are being sold at a loss to create a market. For us, the 450 was sold at a loss, to encourage people to adopt EVs. We did this to introduce a premium product in a price-sensitive market when we launched. In fact, if we had continued with 450, we would have increased its price anyways. Considering the experience of Ather 450 users, we’re convinced that the price of Ather 450X - a much superior product compared to the Ather 450, is justifiable for the value and experience it offers.

Are we? I have paid 60k deposit which is refundable and my monthly subscription is 2.5k. Here’s 450x, a scooter which you buy for 1L (not refundable, someone correct me if i am wrong) and additional 2k subscription every month. I am astonished!! EDIT: It’s 2k + Ather connect/cahrge/one annual subscription plans.

@Ather.Team you have compiled individual wishes of members here and have come up with a great product. It looks and might feel magnificent! But it’s not for the masses. Please don’t stop manufacturing 450. Give some colour options or better come up with a scooter which is on par with 450’s performance minus smart connectivity. Place it below 1L. Scooters have a huge sales potential in our country but they have to be affordable to ordinary folks.

The price of Ather 450X and the current on-road price of Ather 450 are not comparable because the Ather 450 is extremely underpriced at Rs.1.13 lacs on-road. We did this to introduce a premium product in a price-sensitive market when we launched. In fact, if we had continued with 450, we would have increased its price anyways. Considering the experience of Ather 450 users, we’re convinced that the price of Ather 450X - a much superior product compared to the Ather 450, is justifiable for the value and experience it offers.

Pricing plans are just weird. Try explaining that to the general population. They have revamp this. Scooter looks cool though

What happens to customers who have pre-booked from cities where Ather is not going to open doors in near future? What happens to the pre order amount if the people in those cities decide to wait? @abhishek.balaji

We’ll eventually come to your city, and you can hold on to your pre-order till then. The pre-order amount is fully refundable as well, so if you do decide to cancel, you can reach out to customer service for a full refund.

I think Ather got confused when everyone opted for 450 over 340. They thought people only need speed but not a practicality of a scooter. You can definitely build a rocket in the name of scooter unless you want to sell it. There is difference between what technology can build and what market can adopt.

What about the cost effectiveness of owning an EV?

Ather 450 was already way ahead of all the electric scooter recently launched by the two of the two wheeler company. Please continue with Ather 450 also for at least 2 - 3 years, unless you want to lose your customers to other competitors. With that price of 450x, it’s definitely a collector’s edition.

well Ather is premium scooter and I am simple middle class man . I always beleave in VFM product. As I think Ather 450x is very over priced. After purchase I will not saving but my expense increase .(per month 1700 to 2000rs subscription & Maintaince cost also) So I am happy with my currant Suzuki Gixxer petrol bike. In future I will thinking to buy Revolt 400 or Bajaj Chetak EV.
