An update on transmission belts

Hello,

Whats Your ODO KMs

You have to do Periodic Maintenance Every 5000 KMs. That too in a KM Limits. For Example, 1st Periodic Service supposed to be done in between 4,800 KMs to 5,200 KMs.

Like ALL THE PERIODIC SERVICE’S TOO, Done between x,800 to x,200

If You are missing Periodic Services, Then You cant avail Warranty Claims. All the Automotive Manufactures do this afaik.

It is already mentioned in the purchase terms and vehicle warranty faq in the app.

SC is a little bit far from Mawkdok here, that’s why I thought it could be unnecessary. Thanks for the info

+/- 500kms is ok I think as informed to me by SC, Should be within limits as 1st service 4500 to 5500 2nd service 9500 to 10500

Nope, What I said is as per Ather’s T&C followed for Warranty Claims. Kindly Ignore +/- 500 KMs :+1:

I got my 5k service done at 5935KM. 10k service at around 9800KM

No issues wrt warranty.

The problem is even with that you’ll keep on getting calls about getting it re-serviced that makes it confusing choice plus additionally adds to the ferver.

Belt broke down today after 17,906 km and 15 months of regular use of my Ather 450X. Despite showing belt cracks during every service visit and whenever there was noise from the belt, the Ather Nagpur service center and service manager never took it seriously until today. While climbing a flyover, a cutting noise was heard, and the belt broke. I was fortunate to avoid being hit by a car, as everyone was trying to climb the bridge at speed and it was about to rain. I even posted a thread on the Ather community a year ago, when my scooter was 2 months old, about the cracks on the belt, but no response was received from anyone.

Link to my year old post

now i have to give it for replacement tomorrow and to wait fro 2 weeks since part is not available as instructed by Ather nagpur.

That sucks. I just replaced it under warranty yesterday. It wasn’t broken, but showed him the cracks and sawtooth pattern (knife edge pattern on the inside) and the service center manager checked and just replaced it within 10 min. I guess I was lucky. But the point stands, they can visually inspect and replace the belt before it breaks.

Yes you are really luck …but this is not how service centre functions here in nagpur

It should look exactly the same as the current one on your Ather. Basically there are 2 types which you can visually differentiate, however they can only replace with the one that is matching with your VIN.

Thats not true.

I have the first batch Gen3 which had the flat smooth belt, with cracks every few centimetre.

The replacement belt I got is zigzag on both the sides, same as the one shipped on the latest scooters
