hi, I wanted to ask till how long an insurance is valid for our scooters. For example I bought new scooter in December 2023. So I want to ask Do I have to renew insurance or not? as I read on google it says it is compulsory for any new vehicle to come with 1 year of first party insurance and 3 years of third party included. so do i have to take insurance in December 2024 or i can manage with third party if it included with my purchase?
I got the hdfc ergo insurance
Currently only 3rd party insurance is mandatory in India. You can manage without renewing first party insurance, but it’s good to have one.
About the the Ather Care Max plan, it says 2 free break pad replacements right. So does it include front and rear both 2 times or front once and rear once?
My 450X HR 1st Service Experience.
On 28th this month I went to nearest Ather SC Kharagpur, which was 110kms away from home.
I had an anxiety about the range as the distance is exactly same as the true range in Smart Eco mode. But in my surprise/test it successfully pulled it off at a moderate speed of 35-45. Which was painful on the highway and for my rear also.
My 1st service experience is aver all good with the Kharagpur SC. But I have some serious questions and red flags for the Ather Team about build quality and durability of a product which cost almost 2 lakhs.
- Why a scooter with 4800kms in odo need to change entire Cone Set in its very first service. When I asked for warranty claim, they told cone set has 4000kms warranty. When the 1st service is 5k kms why the hell warranty is set to only 4k kms?
It’s a fit case for manufacturing defect, I have several scooter in my garage, never heard of cone set change so early!
- My scooter came with an unbranded disk brake callipers while all the other scooter comes with Bybre callipers. Later I came to know it’s from Endurence brand which is cheaper compared to Bybre one. That’s fine for me, until recently I noticed the golden colour of the calliper is peeling off which is utterly dissatisfying.
Thats not all, now the colours of the exposed underseat"A" shape frame is chipping off too. It’s now look filthy. What a shame, for a manufacturer who boasts off its product quality and durability and one of the key design of it’s product shedding it’s colour within 6months!!! Pathetic!!!
So, as an automotive enthusiast this is a real concern for me as how will the scooter age with time.
How different Ather is from Ola and other scooters in terms of durability and quality.
Why so much fuss about premium scooter when it’s not upto the mark!

With or without branding they are Bybre calipers, Somewhere on their website on I saw this. Its for 450x and 450s. Rizta has a different caliper as it’s a single piston, used only in the front.
I hope you noticed both the callipers side by side physically. Because, design and colours are different. Bybre branded callipers are bright golden colour, and the non branded one is pale gold colour. And the way paint is fading and coming out it’s evident that the unbranded one is not by Bybre.
On the unbranded ones that you find you could try opening it to check if you see the logo is on the inside instead off on the top.

What’s the price of Ather 450x gen 3 secondary belt anybody knows the price with labour. SC asking me to pay 4000rs but the MRP of the belt was 1500rs👀
Nope There are 2 Belts. One is Old, Another is New.
Old one will have Old MRP, New One will have New MRP.
Anything they can’t do manual so Invoice says 3.7k INR means Its Old Price Belt. New will be 1,499 on Invoice.
I saw the belt with the MRP tag it was 1499Rs.

I changed the belt yesterday they said 4k then i showed the bill which i downloaded from forum early. they said wait two days for invoice.( I paid the amount for new one rs1500) .But i saw the MRP of the belt it was 1500 only
