yes, mostly, according to a tweet by Suhas

True.there’s lot of cost cutting with simple one with chain drive buttons quality And plastic feel( and design seems to be copied from ather). It’s actually good that other companies are now competing with Ather.but Now ather has to step up there game as soon as possible . Cause I want ather to still be the benchmark of e scooters in India.expecting some good news from @tarun and @abhishek.balaji

The scooter we all saw on the launch day was no where close to production as confirmed by PowerDrfit when they ask SE. For the final vehicle we might have to wait till Mid Nov when the actual delivery starts.

Yes I know that, but still it’s gonna have lot of cost cutting such as a chain drive but yes let’s see the final production version

Don’t go about knocking chain drive just yet. The belt drive on the Ather was meant to give you “refinement”, but it seems to be doing the opposite with the added bonus of requiring constant tension adjustments.

The teeth on the belt and gear come together to form a rudimentary gerotor pump like so: https://www.google.com/search?q=gerotor+pump&client=opera&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjLlMjwvrjyAhVEfX0KHSYdCX8Q_AUoAXoECBAQAw&biw=2520&bih=1350#imgrc=NMGu_rqiXld_yM This causes air to be pumped out under pressure contributing to drivetrain noise. When you ride the scooter while it’s wet, water splashing over the belt, this assembly becomes a water pump, further worsening the noise situation and adding drag to the vehicle, with the energy required for said pumping being drawn from the battery.

A well thought out and implemented chain drive has the potential to greatly mitigate, if not eliminate these issues completely, while being much more robust and providing comparable levels of refinement to what the belt drive does now.

Man this is really good. I just love your posts. Its always very annoying to keep “pressure” washing the bike every weekend. Because with rains and too much water around, the rides soon get very laggy. Not that I am spending money on these frequent washes but the laggy rides makes me go like “what again? I just washed you 2 days ago…”

Basically, all the “suggestions” of debris caught between the belt causing noise and power delivery issues are examples of weapons grade bullshit. Here’s the actual story:

The very first belts used aramid fiber reinforcing cord, giving them a tough core while having a soft, compliant shell. Car timing belts use the same construction. In @ather 's case, while these provided good noise reduction, they also wore out and failed quicker. So they were replaced with carbon core belts which are much less “rubbery” and stretchy. These provided longevity at the expense of noise and their own unique set of issues.

I noticed the wet NVH issue for the very first time over a year ago on my 450 after I took it out for a ride in a drizzle, and the first time I heard the cacophony, almost shit myself. Having found nothing wrong or stuck in the drivetrain, I continued home and took the scooter out the next morning bracing myself for more noise, but to my surprise, there was nothing abnormal. After that, I didn’t ride the 450 in the rain, so forgot about the issue completely until a few days back when I had to ride my 450X through some heavy rain and was greeted by the very same noise from the past, even though this was a different scooter. This is when I started giving it more thought and ug some more into why chains semed to be the preferred solution in these applications.

Far from the company shedding light on these issues, all I see is propaganda specialists spreading misinformation and fanboys parroting the same misinformation everywhere. It’s highly annoying to say the least.

The simplest way to verify this is to:

a: ride the scooter through water, and observe the NVH levels shoot up instantly.

b: park it, let it dry completely, and ride on a dry road and watch all the extra NVH magically disappear.

The above happen with me everytime, and I have never pressure washed any part of the scooter ever. So much for “debris”.

PS: I could be dead wrong about all of this. What I’ve said and will keep saying is based on information I’ve pieced together over time and used educated guesswork to fill in the blanks. If there’s hard evidence to correct anything wrong I’ve said, I welcome it and will happily admit to being wrong. However, I’d urge everyone to use their own brains to figure stuff out instead of blindly accept somebody’s word for things.

The ceo has asked to put all your queries on Twitter in an earlier post and he said he will try answering them all amd he has somewhat done that.

today at 6pm a detailed announcement by ceo of simple energy will be made with all the details like warranty, emi, delivery etc. lets see what he says.

He is not announcing all those details at today 6pm. He is announcing a date for revaleaing all those details at 6pm today. So, it’s announcement for an announcement.

Funny thing is, he postponed that announcement for an announcement from yesterday to today.

I wish these guys all the success, but from what I have seen till now, I really hope all those who preordered already, gets refund if they want to cancel in future.

True. Even peak power of motor changed multiple times from 7kW to 8.5kW back to 7kW. YouTube walkthrough they mentioned some other and 0-40 speed updated from 3.05 to 2.95 Website was in bad condition before launch i was doubting to even pay pre booking amount but later it was very well updated. Many fumbles in details and launch as well. Many details are in ambiguity. I hope everything works out well. Powerdrift comparison between ola s1 pro and simple one says. Ola doesn’t have documents storage and tpms. And simple doesn’t have cruise control and proximity unlock and hill hold. But ceo had replied “YES and will share more details in detailed presentation” to his twitter comments when asked if it has proximity unlock and cruise control. No time discipline as well. Launch started late and yesterday it was supposed to be announced but after 2 hours he says tomorrow date will be announced for actual announcement date

Hope fully.

For me this SE.always sounded like a freedom one phone which made its rounds couple of years back and we all know what happend evetually.

One can’t disagree on the fact that with the amount of battery pack and features announced the price tag is not possible and for a startup it is not at all suatainable with that amount of losses. OLA with such amount of funding is not able to provide some thing at that tag with lesser battery capacity. Hope people take wise decision and not just go with spec sheet. Real world feedback is to be taken into consideration.

Okinawa ipraise+ for instance which has good feedback and distribution and service centers with way less top speed and not smart but intelligent features costed at 98K. So I couldn’t have that trust on SE

Simple energy is offering 3 years warranty on battery and vehicle

Revolt have an offering of 8 Years of warranty on the battery so that they can maintain their customer base. I wonder what Ather is doing in this aspect. @tarun

I totally agree. Why on earth should I keep paying the money I save for something else? I’m not here to generate revenue for your company. I’m here to save money and maybe help the environment at the same time. It’s the company’s job to get me the software experience they promised.

Just because someone wants some feature that wasn’t promised at all, why should I indirectly spend on software?

This is not some government contract where you keep coming back to me for more money every single time because you can’t get your sh*t together. I paid for a certain experience, you deliver it. When you start charging me for even the most simplest things like to see how much battery % I have on my scooter you should not call it a smart scooter. Even if you do, make sure I don’t have to reset the scooter daily to see the battery %. Right now, I open the app, last sync ~20 hours ago so I have to go to the scooter. Give it the daily dose of live saving medication it needs to function (dashboard reset) wait for it to sync then see the battery % and then come back to my room and carry on with whatever I was doing. Like what? That’s dumber than my ICE vehicle. Atleast with that I know how much petrol I put it and there’s no considerable ‘loss’ when it sits idle.

No they haven’t revised it it has been there from the start or from the launch,5 years warranty on the complete bike and 8 years on the battery, the range and warranty is its usp.

I guess even better then, sorry about that information. Ather should do the same, high time to extend the warranty.

When I am paying 50k+ over a petrol scooter ,I am paying it only when I know that I ll be saving it in the fuel cost and I always remember I would have to shell out some 40k for the battery after 6 years,so there is actually no saving if your running is low like mine around 8-10kms a day,if the connect pro plan was like 1k max for a year it was okay but 2.9k is a bit costly if we look to use it for 10 years you have a clear 19k of difference and it’s like that’s not it you should keep paying even after that if you have to keep using them, but if your running is high surely even with Ather you will be saving on a long run,so I always think EVs should be around just 10-15k over a ice scooter, how is this possible as the battery costs a lot, take use of the subsidies as of now to cover up that gap,so at just 10k more than ice even a person uses his scooter rarely can also save up.

I was dissapointed with simple’s warranty, when even pure ev is providing it at q additional cost of 2k(extension of warranty from 3 to 5 years) ,why can’t simple or Ather do it, anyways I heard some one asking the cc of ola and confirming that it will have 5 years of battery warranty in ola,so mostly it looks like ola S1 pro for me.
