OTA Wants - Feature requests

The most frequently used option on my app is ride stats. I would like to see it on the bottom of the app along with Profile, maps etc.
also can you integrate the forum to the app? And the grid location into same app?

Forum into app is already taken care will be part of future app update as per the owners meet

I’m with you in that the app needs some rearrangement. I had suggested the same long back. Logically speaking I feel “Settings” and “Report an issue” should be in the tab with that Spanner icon. The Documents and profile/vehicle number should be in that first tab with scooter symbol. The last tab can be Ride statistics.

Regarding the forum integration in the app, it’ll come in the nedt app update we were told.

Regarding integration of Athergrid app, Ather has kept it separate as the Athergrid will also be used by non-Ather vehicles.

just a reminder

while few are already there, many are pending and important

About regen -
found this >> https://www.engadget.com/2019/12/20/nawa-racer-e-bike-ultracapacitor/
it could be used in future Ather/e-vehicles for immediate power requirement and can be charged using regen entirely … since it will be in smaller ratio of on board battery price will be less(guess)
its unfortunate that we are not using available kinetic energy at any moment and wasting it by applying brakes.
Hope Ather is considering this !

Guys, wouldn’t you like the actual range to be shown on the dashboard? (Whatever we get on the app)

I personally would like that. Then I wouldn’t have to keep calculating how much range I’ll get based on % charge, especially on long rides.

This was one of the suggestions during the Dec’18 open house. At that point of time, the predicted range was displayed on the bike and that cause a lot of confusion for the users. This was due to the fact that the algorithm was working on very low usage data (since only a few bikes were on the road and users had just used it for 2-3 months) and the owners were confused when after overnight charging they would wake up to a predicted range of 30 or 40km!.

It was decided in that open house to flat-line the range displayed on the bike and re-visit the predicted range display at a later point. Some owners pointed out that we could have a toggle switch in the settings screen to enable/disable predicted range.

However, like a lot of other OTA wants, i guess this is also in the wish list and only @Ather.Team knows the priority for this.

Thanks! I really hope they bring that toggle switch in the settings. I’m sure it’s not that hard to enable it back in the next OTA. Or if it gets auto enabled after 1000 Kms or something…

You are right in LCD vs OLED. But the general principle of lighting is white has the full spectrum of colours and black is made of blue and purple. So the energy draw is not the exact same as white light and there is a minimal difference. Even a little difference make a difference if you are a black mode lover.

If we’re talking about more optimised displays, then OLED displays have the upper hand since they turn on/off each individual pixel as compared to LCD panels which just turn the background lighting to color black. That’s the reason behind why OLED displays have rich deeper blacks than LCD displays.

However, LCD panels do consume lesser energy on dark mode rather than in white mode, but the difference isn’t significant enough to consider the energy saved. Moreover, such dashboard displays do not draw such a significant amount of energy to adversely affect the scooter’s performance.

Someone requested this feature earlier and I am trying to re-iterate the need again.

Need ‘Service’ / ‘Guest Mode’, in addition to Eco/Ride/Sports. The Reason is that these Service guys they bury all hard-earned range performance data in no time when the scooter goes for service/repair. It takes a long time to get back the number again.

In Service mode, apart from range data, all the rest are to be captured. (say GPS, Odo)

hmm nope, LCD consumes the same amount of energy black or white, the tube still powers the back lights of the display, while yes it consumes less energy compared to OLED since in oLed individual led has to light up, so if dark mode is provided then OLED is the best option in saving energy

none of this made it

Looking for the fingerprint sensor on the dashboard for truly key-less ride.

One change I feel that will make a difference is that instead of showing the power usage as a red glow can we get it displayed as a number.
I understand that its not going to be easy to understand when new people ride the bike, but as you use the bike you definitely understand how things work and it’ll make better sense when you try to stay under a certain number.
Another reason for suggesting this is that there are times when the processor isn’t able to immediately display the correct glow. Slow processing speed caused this glow to show up after I’ve released the accelerator.

Do we have an option to rename or name my ather to what ever name I want to? In the app it shows my 450.instead of that can we name it with the name I want?

Hey Abhishek, @abhishek.balaji is it possible to have an OTA update that enables Hazard lights? Preferably with a hardware shortcut, so even if the display isn’t working, it could be enabled.

Had asked Shreyas when he was in charge of the forum a long time ago. He said he’d check with the team and get back, but I suppose he got busy.

Hazard lights are being evaluated for a future OTA, but no promises on the timelines yet

Please add a Service History Menu to the Vehicle as well as the App. This will help us keep a track of the number of requests put in and if there is any repetition of issues.

A separate Service ODO to track the service ride usage and stats would also be useful.
