Even the documents feature is not vaaif you don’t buy Ather connect!

Ather is going to earn around 100 million rupees if till date company has sold 1lakh scooter. They already have charged us too much while purchasing scooter now atleast they should give Ather subscription to free for users.

I purchased my 450x gen 3 on October 2022 and recently my Ather Connect got expired and that’s ok because I was not promised any time period for free access but I think 1 year atleast must be given free from the date of purchase , recently contacted Ather for the same and they replied they can’t provide and I need to pay for it ,

Well that was my case above , now my friend bought in February 2023 and his Ather connect has been expired and he was informed by the dealership for free services for 1 year I guess ,

Any early 2023 buyers who is facing the same?

And what makes you feel entitled to it? I get that India as a country is reluctant to the service sector as a whole in the sense of considering it as a value added service{rather maniacally claiming it as a birthright}, leave alone accepting software as a service. I do agree with you on the part that Ather salesmen shouldn’t be making preposterous claims about things they can’t deliver as per company policy.

Just as an example did you feel the same after you had to pay for your Jio plan without getting enough months for free as many as the early adopters did?

The only problem is I was promised 3 years Pro connect during purchase. Ather has the audacity to change the PDF available on internet to new 450X series on 12th August and sell old 450X 3.1 in reality. The Experience Centre guy is able to make a fool of customer by saying everything will make it to 450x 3.1. What entitles then to make a fool of customers? Now my Pro connect subscription shows one year. They say after one year they will update the date to 3 years automatically. What should I believe?

Even for me it was showing until 2025 than suddenly it changed to 12 Sep.

Is the performance upgrade includes only the modes(smart eco, Ride, Sports and Warp) for this we paid the charges of 20k?

For Jio services, we did not initially pay an additional 20k. I paid an extra 20k for smart features, and now there is an additional charge to access them. This situation is not justified.

They appear to be rushing to generate more revenue from existing customers, possibly overlooking the importance of thorough testing.

It’s disheartening to think about the experience new buyers might be going through.

Same for me. I bought it on July 31st, 2023. I was promised three years of Ather Connect with the pro pack, but now I can see it is only 1 year. On contacting customer care, they told me that those who bought in June and July will have 1 year Ather connect. Ather has become a money-sucking leech now.

Same for me. I even have a screenshot of it and when I approached customer care, they replied with a sorry we changed the rules recently.

Yup that was a pretty crazy bug :bug::bug::bug:

I forgot to take screenshot

Wasn’t that called the performance upgrade for the specific reason of getting modes, bit of extra range unlocked and bluetooth access which are still available even without Ather connect plan. Any features with recurring overhead to run weren’t going to stay for free in perpetuity. If the service that you are consuming does not cost you anything and still is running profitably every year then you indeed are being used or sold as a product to someone else. About the ‘used’ part of the statement the Ather consumers that got it for free all this while were being used to test and slowly build the structure that is available for the new consumer without having to face the same type and amount of bugs and problems that existed on the barebones software available back then.

I completely agree, but I paid 1999₹, and I expect a minimum level of quality. Here’s what I’ve experienced for that price:

There’s no network available in underground parking spaces, which means I can’t access charging information in the app.

The maps lack real-time traffic data and often don’t work well. They feel glitchy and subpar.

Ride stats no longer include GPS information, even though it was available before.

They have regenerative graphics, but there’s no data to support it. It would be helpful to have kilometer-wise data on a monthly basis.

Considering the limitations of the dashboard hardware, I doubt Ather can do much more with it. They should either price the product accordingly or ensure that everything works as expected. Right now, they can’t truly claim to be a premium scooter company; the only premium aspect seems to be their pricing. Although I support all startups in Indiranagar, Ather appears to be influenced by Hero Motors and other stakeholders rather than delivering a premium experience.

I wholeheartedly agree to the points you put forth regarding betterment and consistency in the services offered. At the least as a paid service they are now liable to provide that level of quality at the premium they are charging the end user, which in turn also opens them up not just to internal complaints but also complaints registered in the consumer forum regarding the said services.

Ather users who have recently purchased their scooters, which typically cost between 1.5 lakh to 1.7 lakh rupees on-road (including subsidies), and excluding the charger refund that is still pending for most owners, are growing increasingly dissatisfied with recent developments at Ather. While we acknowledge that as a startup, the company faces limitations and accountability to various stakeholders, it’s crucial to recognize that customers are among the most significant stakeholders.

In their quest to turn revenue into a positive stream and reflect healthy cash flow, the company has been employing strategies that are raising concerns among both new buyers and existing owners. Here are several points that have become serious issues for almost every Ather owner:

Issues with government entities regarding FAME subsidies and related refund problems with customers.

The removal of previously available Ather service packages, which were considered value for money. Even if purchased, dealers are reluctant to honor them.

The introduction of charging fees. While having a minimal fee for charging is understandable, the per-minute billing approach has not been well-received by many owners.

Introduction of connect subscription plans, even though many features still appear to be in beta testing, while competitors offer more features free of charge.

The pricing of accessories like mudguards and seat covers is considerably high, and the maintenance cost of the vehicle is steadily increasing. (For instance, I paid 750₹ for the LHS mirror and 250₹ for belt adjustment.)

Software updates often introduce bugs, resulting in a glitchy dashboard.

During the monsoon season, the scooter exhibits instability, with nearly zero traction, and the noise emanating from the disk or belt becomes unbearable.

The pricing of the new series of scooters is considerably high, especially given the lack of significant design changes.

False advertising and unfulfilled dealer promises have been a source of frustration for many customers, particularly those with gen 3 and above vehicles who expected coasting regen and cruise control but were told these features were restricted by hardware limitations.

Uncertainty surrounding motors is a growing concern, with numerous reports on forums of gen 1 and 2 owners facing bills of 40,000₹ or more for motor replacement or repairs.

These issues collectively reflect the growing discontent within the Ather community, and it is essential for the company to address these concerns to maintain customer trust and satisfaction.
