Home Charging

Where are you put up in Bengaluru? You may borrow multi meter if you wish so. I am in Bannerghatta Road, behind IIMB.

Usually these parameters will be checked during Home Charging point installation and Ather ensures these are within. Guess your UPS connection was not up during their installation time, otherwise I am sure they would have advised you on fixes.

Any idea about this?

I live in Vidyaranyapura, when the installation guys came there was no power and had single phase power due to heavy rains ,even installation of charger was done with the help of UPS power to run the drill gun.

Thanks for the help @rajeshkav , I guess I got a similar issue faced posted in one of the forum with similar setup as mine except that its a 48 volts system as below

May be I have a similar issue here at my house.

When I plug the charger connected to UPS point when main BESCOM power is fed to the UPS the charger turns green, if I turn off the BESCOM power to the UPS it turns red. Mine is a Line interactive UPS when BESCOM power is fed to the UPS ,only the Auto voltage regulator part works and hence the charger turns green , when BESCOM power is disconnected to the input of UPS the charger turns RED.

As per advice from installation guys , the only thing they tell is not to use UPS, and our office team has told us not to connect to UPS.

We need to have a way to charge a scooter via UPS/inverter provided it is has sufficient power to charge the vehicle… Designers at Ather should have a simpler solution to overcome this issue .

Okay, all the best… Let me know when the issue gets solved. I find this issue very interesting.

@Ather.Team is there a manual that explains the various installation scenarios to install the home charger and best practice guide of some sort that explains the errors seen on home charger (green and red light indication )instead of running around to get a solution.Highly sensitive charger is increasingly becoming painful and inability to charge when on UPS too, any solutions guidelines would be helpful .

was asking about it here but are you sure this is the only way or our intelligent scooter can know the power utilised from each source separately whether in app only owners got any idea about this

I dont think Ather app can give you the power consumed while charging , these energy meters are used to measure the exact wattage consumed by an electrical appliance in realtime. @rajeshkav your inputs please.

Ather keeps track of the power usage as it’s used for the Ather One reimbursement. The data is already there, only a question of “if & when” Ather can make it available to the owner on a on-demand basis instead of the quarterly email reimbursement notifications.

One small clarification needed ASAP from fellow Ather Owners charging at home regularly like @hemanth.anand!
Does the cooling fan stay on throughout the charging process (10%-100%) while charging at Ather Home Pod…? As my vehicle cooling fan located near the dashboard was on all the time while charging!
TIA
RGT

Yes that normal

The above two are the changes regarding fans in the latest update. While I’m able to see the change number 2, regarding number 1 (which is actually your question), frankly speaking I’m not sure. My scooter will be on charge overnight in the basement and I’ve not checked if the fan is switching off after 80%

On point 1, probably high state is termed on current which is going into the battery. In my case, I see the fan is turned off after 100%.

Read more on this at

Regarding #1, same I did not get chance to observe
Regarding #2, yesterday after I drove for 13 kms in a stretch, when only 5 km range was left, noise started and it did not stop. I assumed that it was Motor fan noise. Today morning when traffic was lesser, was going at higher speed than previous 2 days. After some 6 kms, again noticed motor fan noise.

What is this #2 for?

Hi gud mrng all,
regularly i charge vehicle morning @8 for 2 hours… All of sudden today morning charging point colour shows RED  not able to charge vehicle.
Friends Wat b the reason

if it is good all this time and only today?

BESCOM must have messed up with the line

  • before you observed this - is there any power loss

probably when this happens - if there are any works in ur locality they will draw power from different line apart from regular line - even this can be issue (just from my observation)

never happened when i was around

but my mom said she saw red light for a day after power cut when it rained
stayed for a day and returned back when there is power outage again next day!

if i was there i must have done some exp - to find the cause

Had the exact same issue in the first week after delivery. Summer heat had just kicked in and my entire neighborhood would turn on their air-conditioners. Power would eventually trip and come back but my point was red. Power would again trip late night and come back - point would turn green. Power sometimes would comeback only at 6am and so I had to remember to not rev too much so I have enough charge for the ride back home.

It happened to be 3 days back… But, after 2-3 hours I retried and it turned GREEN. So I assumed it to be fluctuations
