Personally speaking, I find these helmets pretty cool. I currently wear my Pixel Buds in transparency mode at a slightly lower volume than usual when I’m riding in the city on roads that I’m well versed with. If these helmets manage to let important road sounds pass through as advertised, then I would be interested. Also, features like ChitChat and music sharing seem nifty and might even encourage the pillion rider to wear a helmet. Safety should be the main and sole motivation here, but sadly, many disregard it despite it being a mandate.
Now, coming to the elephant in the room… the price! I do feel that it could have been priced much better!
Wait, so HALO bit is just a BT module with speaker and mic for 4999 which wont even fit our existing helmets and we have to buy a new Ather half face helmet separately?
even i thought it a proper open face helmet with all the functionalities of the Halo. Now I understand why is it only 4999 whereas the Halo is 12,999. I was confused that only Ather Halo being a full face compared to a half face would cost 8,000 more?! Plus, now if we have to get newer Helmets post July 2024 that would work with the Bit, it would cost more. Considering the current price of the half face helmet that Ather sells, it would be approx 2500+ 4999 with is 7598. Woah.
This is so very true ill add up some images so it makes more sense
And hopefully helps others to decide what to get
Getting both of these wound cost u around 13ish k
an good Axor helmet 6k
A good com system with a decent sound output which here is parani a10 800m if need a even better one one can go for m10 parani which wound cost u around 7ish K
Tho lets not compare it as it had a lot of features am adding this coz of it’s really good sound output and its an og
with both of these it will cost u around 13k or so depending on whare u live and discounts if available
the only thing that concerns majority of us is ECE certification so
and an optional sun visor with pinlock
even if one is going for an good helmet with DOT or ECE Certification and an good DIY sound system it will be around 8 to 7K total
And for people who are wondering yes i prebooked that halo at 6K
if i had to choose from those options with my budget i would get only that helmet and a neckband for my music
best of both worlds.
Is Ather helmet expensive tbh no
is it worth that cost yes and no
depending on
if ur taking about rider safety no ( ECE )
if u wanna know about whats DOT and ECE (https://www.ircobi.org/wordpress/downloads/irc18/pdf-files/76.pdf)
and it ur talking about its features it gets absolutely yes
Yup! This is exactly the combination I had in mind when the price point didn’t seem too bad. The Axor helmet is around 6k, and Parani M10 is quite decent, just pairs only with other Parani intercoms. You can get ASG SG5, which is around 10-11k. So ideally, the price point does get more expensive if not same as Halo, without features like wireless charging and Ather integration, no auto-wear sensor.
At the end of the day, owners can have all the opinions they want to have. Expensive is a relative term. We bought our Ather scooters when most people called it “expensive”, yet here we are. Someone commented saying “who is gonna buy 2 helmets at 26k”, the ones who want those features and can afford it, will buy it. Not every product is supposed to be bought by everyone, you make purchase decisions based on your liking, and use-case.
Devansh, I ordered 1 Halo helmet, which I paid 6500 INR for, cause I was the ACDC, and that was the deal everyone present at the event got. I don’t have to share screenshot, nor do I have to justify what I do with my money, or anyone else on the Forum needs to. Seems a bit personal to me, to be honest. Let’s stick with our opinions, and stay on course on the Halo thread.
The intercom feature present in these devices work over 2.4GHz channel for range and better clarity in communication.
The chit chat feature built into HALO is based on BT connection to our phones. Seeing the current situation of how difficult it is to keep Ather App connected to our vehicle I could just hope that the newer App is not just a new theme but makes improvement in this regards otherwise ChitChat will not be happening for longer that few minutes at a time.
Agreed! Would be interesting to see how the ChitChat feature works. Im not entirely sure if ChitChat works over BT connection to our phones. Did you read that somewhere? Please share if you did.
What we saw in Ather community day is their final prototype! It’s not even a completed product!
For a premium sound with ANC built in(to an extent)… I mean it’s a no brainer for someone to pay the premium price!
I use a galaxy buds live while I ride and its one of the best ear buds which allows outside noise to be heard and helps with situational awareness but comes with a pain that will take atleast 5-10 mins to adjust after u remove it
At launch, buds live came at a premium price and PPL were able to afford it (approx 10k)
Why not for a helmet with connected tech?
I’m thinking of using it while I even drive my car
give permission to contacts, call logs, phone, SMS
Ather app should run in the background at all times
Since I concerned about my privacy
I don’t want Google or other 10+ apps to share my current location at all the times
I’m okay to see the phone number without the contact names when I get call, but no such option available. I know the phone numbers of my family members it’s enough for me.
Ather app sends wakelock and drain phone’s battery when it runs on the background
After providing all the permissions connecting to the vehicle via Bluetooth is purely based on luck. I switched off Bluetooth and set my mind it’s not there.
Whereas a 1000 rupees smart band connect to Bluetooth seamlessly without such permissions. The simple reply that we get from Ather is that Google doesn’t certify Bluetooth devices on 2 wheelers.
