Where was this spotted
This was somewhere on Banerghatta road, while stuck in yesterdayâs fantastic rains.
I have seen that too!!
Now that is one ugly looking charging station, they desperately need a good design team to work on their products. https://www.autocarindia.com/bike-news/tork-motors-sets-up-first-ev-charging-station-in-pune-414339
Honestly I donât really care about the how the charger looks. It should be functional thatâs it. They probably cant pour in money for the design team as of now.
well âfunction over formâ is always an argument but does not really help in sales which matters for rapid adoption and growth of the EV industry. Customers need inspiring products and an ecosystem which excites them everyday. I am sure that just the design of the Ather public charging points makes a lot more people talk about EVs, specially compared to the public charging points that we have around in the big cities and which no one really cares about.
I agree that Ather Grid chargers look much better than the one by Tork Motors charger, but based on the number of âNot workingâ posts on the âCharging at Ather gridâ thread, I am would take functional charger over beautiful one that does not work any day.
Ather should make sure that Grid works properly. Its actually quite disappointing to see so many not working Ather grid chargers. It has been more than a year since they started setting up the Grid in Bangalore, but if they couldnât manage it one city, I wonder how they could do it across multiple cities across the country.
It for sure needs to be functional, my point being that design is equally important. And we donât really know yet how robust and user friendly are the charging points designed by Tork Motors yet. So we canât really compare the two right now.
I am not saying Tork chargers are better in function over Ather grid as its too early to judge them on that. Coming to importance of function and form, as someone who is eagerly waiting to buy Ather for more than 3 years, I would prefer boring charger that works most of the time than a beautiful one that does not.
Chargers can be both good looking and very functional at the same time, but I wish Ather takes the grid more seriously and fix all the issues when it still in nascent stage and confined to single city. Once the expansion starts, it will much more difficult to maintain the grid.

Interesting read, maybe deliveries for Revolt should start by mid next year in Bengaluru. Priced similar to Ather, should be cheaper by a few thousand. Looking forward to the EV market exploding in the next couple of years.
