Charging at Ather Grid

Ather pays at ₹6.5/unit.
Also why 3.75 when battery is 2.7kwh

Transmission loss, rectifier loss and finally battery loss (while charging battery getting hot and they used fan to cooldown that energy wasting as a heat)

So Ather should give more than ₹6.5/unit and 3.4units per charge
Right @Ather.Team

6.5/unit may go to 6.75/unit because BESCOM changed tariff… but I doubt they considered losses and I don’t have idea how they calculating amount of energy consumed (means at input of charging pod or input to the vehicle or on amount of charge done battery)

AtherGrid point : Near the car parking exit and adjacent to the car wash.

Pros:

  • Clearly marked area to accommodate 3 EV’s.
  • Staff awareness is good and will guide you to the spot.

Cons:

  • Area was dusty and looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in a few days.
  • 2 wheelers beware. Do not use the exit near this area cos security will make you double back to the basement and you’ll need to exit through the lanes dedicated to collect parking fees for bikes.
  • Parking fees!! The banner above the charging area hints at the setup being part of a Phoenix CSR initiative. What CSR is being done if Ather is going to reimburse power usage and Phoenix is still going to charge me a parking fee.

Last time I was there for a late night movie, they took down my number and vehicle number. No idea why. They just mentioned cos I was charging it.

The grass is not letting the charger connect by vehicle.
I have to move a little into the green…

Maybe due to the parking space near the charger is used by gas guzzlers…

It updates in about 3 mins into charge

@Ather.Team can you please make sure the points are under covered space ?

Also as the count of 450s are increasing in the city more points needs to be installed as well

Luckily when I was going to Ather’s 2nd meet, I charged my bike at Fabcafe athergrid point and reach IBC park with 40km remaining and parked vehicle.

While returning back after meet up I put charge again in IBC athergrid point.

Ather dashboard, app and grid point was blinking to show sign of Charging.

When I returned back after 30minutes by talking to others owners to take my bike from grid point dashboard was showing 41km without charging.

I guess IBC grid point has problem and request @Ather.Team to investigate and fix it.

Hint : I confirmed charging is not happening when charging fan did not turn on.

While leaving ather team told might be some problem with grid or vehicle and told to go back home and see charging happening. I confirm I reached back and charged again in Fabcafe grid point.

Guys, Need some information & suggestion…

This saturday, I am planning for a long travel which 57 kms from my home… The last charging point enroute is GT mall Magadi road. The distance to destination from GT mall is 33 kms…

So, I want to do a full charge there so that I can come back to GT mall.

I want to know what time this GT Mall charging grid will be open

Is the grid timing same as mall? :frowning:

Generally all Malls open at 10AM. So, any grid inside Mall is also accessible only when the mall opens

I assume you are visiting Thippagondanahalli reservoir. If I’m correct, you can choose Royal Airavatha charging station on Mysore road. The advantages are:

  • Depending on the route you take, Thippagondanahalli reservoir is same or less distance from there (33Kms or less)
  • You have longer highway stretches so you’ll get good efficiency (compared to Magadi road)
  • Royal Airavatha is a Hotel/Restaurant and hence open early

I suggest that you check the movie timings at their multiplex- The Cinema (spicinemas.in or bookmyshow). I’ve seen shows that start early in the day. Should tell you when the mall and parking opens right…? Assuming that the grid is in the parking area.

Royal Airavath - 24hr - security is always at the gate and he will open gate (incase it is closed) when he looks at the bike

@hemanth.anand No, I am going to a volunteering activity near Kallur. You can search for Gramadevate Temple, Kallur

With a quick view of Ather grid map, I thought GT Mall was the best point enroute.

I dont have a portable charger… So unless I can travel GT Mall to Kallur to GT Mall in a single charge, I may drop the plan…

If any other best route, will be helpful

Thanks @santosh.rism I tried all 3 routes…

Looks Royal Airavatha is better option for me as the roundtrip distance between Royal Airavatha and my destination is 65 kms when compared to GT Mall (72 km)… So, I will have some safe buffer. Also, 24 hours open means, I can go there early…

Any idea hows the road in that route? Asking just to understand how it will affect the range…

Athereans (new term coined by @rajeshkav  ) are great in giving such tips!!!

From corporation circle to Mysore road you can ride comfortable

From Gopalan mall (old Madras road) - Vijayanagar road some white topping is in progress might be delayed in ride 10-15 mins.

Fabcafe point will come 1st before you reach Royal Airavatha. You can charge in any of them no issues and location is good.
