The update for the new Ather stack 6 for iOS phone has started releasing in phases over the weekend. One of the biggest improvement is to the Bluetooth pairing and connection flow. However, iOS has some inbuilt limitations related to killing apps that have been running in background for too long. While this is done by iOS to conserve processing power, it may lead to a less than smooth experience. Here are a few steps to keep in mind to ensure a super smooth, seamless BT experience for iOS users:
First time pairing through new mobile app: Unpair all existing devices from your Ather scooter + unpair your scooter from your phone’s bluetooth settings / Ather app bluetooth settings
Auto connection: Auto connection runs best when the app is in use or was recently used. In case iOS has killed your background services automatically and you are facing an issue with auto-connection:
- Turn the scooter key off
- Close the app and remove it from recents list
- Reopen the app again & power on your scooter.

@ryan I can’t connect my Series 1 with Atherstack 6. It is not discoverable at all. The app is stuck in searching only. This was not the case earlier where, once paired, if Bluetooth was on, the scooter would get connected automatically on iOS. Can you rectify this issue? And also motor fan doesn’t seem to work post update.

Already I have started seeing Performance drop in My Gen 2.
Before Knowing about Cooling Fan Issue. I mentioned here or in WhatsApp but I mentioned it.
After 50 KPH, Vehicle struggling after sometime without Cooling Fan 🪭

So went on the ride. 90-91kph the whole ride on highway, performance didn’t degrade initially, and just disabled AutoHold like usual.
But there was a big difference when I had to exit the highway, slow down for speed breakers… accelerating after that was very slow. It took a long time for the scooter to recover to normal.
I can’t imagine how living with Gen4+/Apex without the fan must feel. It has a really long refractory period…
On the Bluetooth side, it was inconsistent but at the end of the ride it seemed to work well. I guess the key is to turn on scooter first, wait for it to pair and then connect headset and play music. Otherwise it messes up with its process and either doesn’t show music at all, or (this happens very often, almost every time I managed to connect) get stuck at a single song.
The getting stuck issue was very annoying. Otherwise, the controls at least worked
