Ever since I got my scooter I had this question. Why does the 450s not have optimised charging? Are the batteries different? Or does it mean that the 450S’s battery wont degrade as much over a period of time as compared to the ‘X’ ?

You can charge in grid till 100? Or You mean Over Night Optimised Charging?

Overnight optimised charging. On grid it charges to 80 only. First I thought maybe only 450s has a slow charger but the 2.9kw 450x also comes with a slow charger but has optimised charging.

Speak with a Gen 2 450+ Owner to know more about your Issue. Because You bought a Cheap Variant So Ather will do all these Compromises. Even If Its Possible, They will not give it

U could be happy then as it only charges till 80 u can expect it to last I guess more 2 or more years exy as it doesn’t cycle 100% everytime

Yeah, but if the battery degrades faster then they only will have to replace it.

I bought it at launch 1.5L 450x was 1.6 so it was definitely not cheap. I got it cause I liked the display more and it had the performance I was looking for.

No no it charges to 80 only at the fast chargers (Ather Grid). At home it does 100 only

That is how oc2.0 works now it charges to 100% by 5:00 am, 80% by 12:00 midnight.

No it doesn’t stop at 80 and does 100 by 5am. It just charges to 100 at one stretch. Sometimes it is at 1am that it will finish charging to 100 sometimes at 3. There is no optimised charging option on the scooter UI or the app for optimised charging as well.

The whole point of 450S is simplicity to use and live with. It makes sense from that point of view. And that is why it is a budget offering too. Again we can never bet on what Ather is thinking with their feature rollouts as they are on top of the game for that.

Optimised charging should be applicable regardless of the battery size, as user can toggle whether he wants or not.
Understandable for not covering gen 1 and Gen 1.5. Should have been an option for 450 S

Optimised charging is the most simple and basic need to maintain a healthy battery. The complexity to get it working is from development side not the user side.

The Ather 450S takes around 8 hours to charge fully from 0 to 100% using a standard home charger (350W). However, Ather already has an optimized charging system with features like:

Auto Cut-Off – Stops charging when it reaches 100%.

Trickle Charging – Keeps battery health in check by maintaining a safe voltage.

Charging Scheduler (Future OTA) – Ather plans to add an option to schedule charging during off-peak hours.
If you mostly charge overnight, optimized charging isn’t a big concern since 8 hours is manageable. But if you need faster home charging, Ather doesn’t currently offer a higher-wattage charger for 450s.
