One Month (close) Halo Review
I was always looking out for a good helmet which would save me (yes yes, I know) and also not restrict me from listening to my skewered music choices. I tried a lot of combinations of earphones and helmets but couldnât find one. I ofcourse course get a smart helmet but didnât. FINALLY, the Halo is announced and I have to get one. After some deliberation, I place the order on April 24. Then the waiting game( just Ather and me stuff, and a lot of you as well). After a few YouTube videos, posts the much awaited whatsapp message shows up on November 8. I place the order on November 14 as I donât trust my measuring skills and needed help with the size. I wish there was an option to walk into any EC and try it out. Then after a couple of emails and calls later for an update, I finally get a message on November 24 from Delhivery that my helmet is out for delivery. I was occupied for a couple of days and I open the parcel on November 26. There it is. Nicely packed. The case, sickkkk. I check for scratches, dents, paint chipped etc, I donât see any.
After the photo session, I pair it and put it on. It did pair without any problems but only to find out one side speaker isnât working. I did the whole reset and the process but still no luck. After charging for sometime,I decide to take a short test ride. On the ride, I also make a call to CS too see how the calling is and complain about the speaker but boom, the helmet discharges. I wear it back home and as I was returning,I get a call and both of the speakers start working. The call test is done and it works well. Now I think, finally the problem is solved. I put it to charge and it doesnât charge. I used to same adaptor and the cable that comes along with the helmet but it just doesnât charge. I then try various adaptors but no luck. Then I change my existing complaint to the charging issue. After raising the complaint on 27th, I receive an email asking for video proof and I send that. Then the standard email of checking and getting back. On December 2nd, someone (Product Manager) reaches out to me to understand my concern and I again do the explanation and send the proof again. He doesnât respond. Randomly on December 7th, I receive the return message from Delhivery. It is picked up and I donât know whatâs going to happen as CS is still getting back to me. With posting a review in mind about this issue on 24th as it would finally complete a month of delivery but to my surprise, without any information, not even from Delhivery, I received my Halo.It finally shows up. It was a bit beaten up and dirty this time. I try to charge it with one of my other chargers which could charge for sometime like before and it does charge. Now comes the testing. Pairs without any problems, speakers good and finally all is well. SIGH. It also charges with my phone charger adaptor which isnât a power delivery one.
Time for the big test,
It doesnât fit in the boot.
It takes about two hours to charge and lasts well ( as of my limited testing). The auto detection is kinda hit and miss. The call thing I mentioned is a bit strange too. The right speaker does work but when wearing the helmet, I think there is a proper position in which you can hear the sound in a balanced manner otherwise the left is always overpowering tje right one. When the band is tightened, it doesnât move but like hits on your chin. The update took a lot of charge, almost all of it. I donât know why probably because of the issue of not wearing it and it being left on.
All in all, I like it. It is built well, sounds good and is comfortable. My ears used to fold on my old one and wearing it for a longer period would hurt. I donât think that would be the case with the Halo.
Here are a few suggestions:
There should be a page in the manual that indicates what each light on the charger denotes. And should also mention a charger requirement (if any). It should be easier to connect without wearing it too. The button is idk too tight and tough to keep pressing or to perform any action with the same. While wearing the same, it moves a bit( I got it as per the size chart). Also noticed some gap over the smart module and this too (probably is for air circulation or something.
On January 10th, I hear back from Ather. They have woken up. They say, âAs per the update we have received, the replacement order has already been delivered to you on 22nd December '24.â And then they close the ticket and bombard me with feedback emails and calls. Only if you had actually bother to close this issue with this much of effort, I would have rated you positively.
