The official word from Ather is straightforward: the TPMS is compatible with Pro pack variants of the Ather 450 series and Rizta. Here’s what that looks like across the current lineup:

How to Replace the TPMS Battery

A Quick Note on “Non-Replaceable”

Ather officially lists the TPMS battery as non-replaceable, rated for 3–5 years. That’s fair for warranty purposes. But the TPMS is manufactured by Treel, and as you can see in the photos below, the sensor housing does have a standard coin cell inside — and it can be accessed.

:warning: Opening the sensor yourself will void the warranty. Only attempt this after the 1-year warranty period has expired. If your TPMS stops working during warranty, visit your Ather Service Centre first.


What Battery Does the Ather TPMS Use?

Based on a teardown of the Treel-manufactured unit, the battery is:

:information_source: The “C” suffix matters — it’s not a standard CR1632. The CR1632C is a high-temperature rated variant designed to handle the heat generated inside a spinning tyre during riding. This is why Treel specifically uses this grade cell.

Can you substitute a regular CR1632? :white_check_mark: Yes — it will physically fit and function. But the standard CR1632 isn’t rated for the thermal environment inside a tyre, so expect a shorter lifespan compared to the OEM CR1632C. Source the CR1632C where possible; try Maxell distributors or specialty electronics stores.


Step-by-Step Battery Replacement

What you’ll need:

  • 1× Maxell CR1632C battery (or CR1632 as a fallback)
  • Small precision screwdriver (Phillips or Torx — check your unit)
  • Tweezers or thin non-metallic prying tool
  • A tyre shop or Ather Service Centre to demount and remount the tyre

Step 1 — Get the sensor out of the wheel

The TPMS sensor lives inside the wheel rim. You’ll need a tyre shop or the Ather Service Centre to safely demount the tyre first. Do not attempt to force the tyre off the rim at home.


Step 2 — Identify the two sides of the sensor

Once out, you’ll see:

  • Front face (Image 2 above): The black housing with the Treel “R” logo in a white gear circle, held together by four small corner screws.
  • Back face (Image 1 above): The circular battery compartment with the CR1632C cell visible, sitting inside a rubber-sealed housing.

Step 3 — Unscrew the housing

Using your precision screwdriver, remove the small screws from the corners of the sensor body. Keep them somewhere safe — they are very small. The two halves of the housing will separate, exposing the battery.

Be gentle. The internal PCB is delicate.


Step 4 — Remove the old battery

Using tweezers or a non-metallic tool, carefully lift out the old CR1632C. Before removing it, note the orientation — the positive (+) side faces upward in this unit. A quick photo helps.


Step 5 — Insert the new battery

Place the new CR1632C (or CR1632) into the slot with the positive (+) side facing up, matching the original orientation. Press gently until it sits flat.


Step 6 — Reassemble

Reseat the two housing halves and screw them back together. Do not overtighten — the casing is plastic.


Step 7 — Remount Tyre

Take the sensor back to the tyre shop or Ather Service Centre to have it refitted inside the wheel. Once remounted.

Does Tpms installation can be done only through SC?

Yes, a first-time visit to the SC is required to register the TPMS MAC IDs to the vehicle’s dashboard. Once this initial pairing is complete, We can replace the batteries ourself or at a local shop.

I am using Ather TPMS on my Series 1. Any 450x with Bluetooth even if pro pack subscription has expired TPMS works no issue at all.

How is TPMS working for you guys until the battery is depleted? For almost close to 4 years of owning the 450x I’ve replaced TPMS thrice. Every time it will just stop working just after the 1 year warranty ends.
