Is the new 6kw charger compatible with 450S

Hi,

I recently tried charging my 450S at a 6kw fast charging Ather grid, but as soon as I would put the charging gun in the socket, the charger would turn red. It didn’t even start charging, just putting the gun in the socket would turn the charger red.

Hence I am wondering is it compatible with 450S scooter? I know Ather treats the S model as a step child and hence the is

Hi SUKHDEEP SINGH,

If the percentage you put your Ather on charge was above 80, this might happen. And I’m not sure if 450S supports 6kW grids.

The battery was at 20% .. but as I mentioned it didn’t even start charging.. just putting the gun in the socket would turn it red

Have you cleared all your dues on the app? Sometimes this can cause the red light to illuminate on the charger.

Yes.. I had sufficient balance, I was able to charge with the normal faster charger which was next to the 6kw charger ..

FYI.. Ather replied on Twitter finally saying that only models after Aug 2025 will support the 6kw fast charging

Ather Grid 3.0 is optimized for vehicles sold after August 2025. For earlier models, these points will continue to provide reliable charging at standard Grid speeds. Hope this clears things up!

Small Correction, 7th of Jan 2025 and after will have 6 kW Charging specially 450 series and X variant specifically :high_voltage:

It does charge. I have Ather 450s. Same model as you looking by the display. 6kw works. I tried 2 chargers in Whole pune. Both worked. Idk about speed. Felt just very very little faster. But works. Try contacting service centers once. My model is before 2025
