Is it safe to drill a hole in pillar for POD/DOT installation? What does the law say?

As per the “National Building Code of India 2016” by BIS, a load-bearing wall can be drilled to a depth of a third of its thickness if vertical and can be drilled to a depth of a sixth of its thickness if horizontal.

All Ather Home and Public charging locations comply with this regulation and in case we find walls or columns thinner than required, we use a floor-mounted mount for it.

You can refer to section 6.5 in the ‘National Building Code of India V1’ for the same regulation.
