Introducing Ather Wallet | Prepaid Charging at Ather Grids, Now Live!

Hey folks!

We’ve always aimed to make charging as frictionless as possible and as our charging network grows, we are evolving the way you pay for your sessions to give you more transparency and control.

And for this, we are launching ‘Ather Wallet’!

What is Ather Wallet?

The Ather Wallet is a new prepaid feature within your app. It replaces the current “credit” system with a standard wallet where you top up funds in advance. This move helps us align with standard digital payment practices and ensures you always know exactly how much you’re spending.

With the launch of the new Wallet:

The charging method will still remain the same - you just plug in the charger to your scooter and begin charging.

What’s changing?

  • The Ather Wallet will be a new prepaid feature within your app. It will replace the current “credit” system with a standard wallet where you top up funds in advance. This move will help us align with standard, user-friendly digital payment practices.

  • Unlike the previous system where you started with a +₹100 credit balance, this wallet will operate with zero balance as baseline, similar to other digital wallets. As a result, your existing balance in the wallet will be adjusted to account for your usage of the +₹100 Ather credit. Read further for more details.

How will your current balance be affected?

  • If your balance pre-launch is +₹100, it indicates you have not utilized any credit amount given by Ather. Post the launch, you will start at a baseline of zero in your wallet, to which you can add any amount you wish to.

  • If your balance pre-launch is less than +₹100, it indicates you have used some of the credit amount given by Ather. Post the launch, your balance will reflect that deficit. Example -

Pre-update Wallet Balance: +₹80. It indicates that ₹20 was borrowed from the credit amount of ₹100.

Post launch of the Ather wallet, your wallet will show a balance of –₹20. To continue charging, you must top up your wallet to balance the outstanding ₹20, and keep a positive balance.

  • If your balance is negative pre-launch, it indicates that you have fully utilized the initial ₹100 Ather credit, along with additional expenses. Post the launch, your balance will reflect the deficit of the initial ₹100 credit and the additional cost.

Pre-update Wallet Balance: –₹20 : indicates that ₹120 was borrowed from the Ather credit amount of +₹100.

Post launch of the Ather wallet, your wallet will show a balance of –₹120. To continue charging, you must top up your wallet to balance the outstanding ₹120, and keep a positive balance.

Ensure a smooth transition by topping up your wallet today. You can visit our FAQs page for further clarity.

Will the issue of vida fast chargers over charging even for idle time fixed? Or same response saying it’s third party charger……

Good it’s prepaid now I hope charging stops when wallet balance hit zero and it doesn’t go to negative amount.

What do you mean by current balance minus the initial 100 credit limit? I think the information is not clear. So let’s say I have 100 rupees in my Ather top up wallet and I have not used it. And when you launch this new wallet, my 100 rupees will be gone and reset to 0 rupees in my new Ather wallet? What exactly do you mean MINUS 100…because if that’s the case the money that we added in the current Ather wallet will be zero.

And in this prepaid first approach, the amount we are going to recharge our wallet, will there be any upper limit like “you can only recharge up to certain amount” or is it any amount?

What about Vida Grids charging insane bill and slowest charging. Simply Ather replies stating its third party chargers. My question is if it’s third party chargers, why do you guys even show Vida Grids in your app as Nearby chargers???

When you show Vida grids as a suggestion in the app to your customer, then YOU MUST take accountability for those grids. You can’t simply say “they are third party chargers, we don’t have control”

Recently, one of the Vida Grids charged me 113 Rupees just for 40-50% charge. It’s insane.

And the most worst part is you guys have removed so many existing Ather grids from malls in Bangalore,..

Just an year ago there were 2 Ather grids in NEXUS MALL, whitefield (Forum Neighbourhood Mall) - they have been removed for god knows what reason and because of that, we are forced to us Vida Grids in that mall which is slow and charging huge amount…

Now, tell me who takes responsibility for that? Why are u guys removing existing Ather grids and not even informing your customers???

And in Bangalore, Vida grids are way more than Ather so most time, we are forced to use them as we have no option…

I live in Varthur and there are no Ather Grids for next 7-10 KM… which is very bad considering this area connects Whitefield, and Sarjapura road..,

if you do not solve the issue with your grids and Vida grids - you will have lot of bad reputation.. because your vehicle is only as good as your charging infrastructure.

This is a NEED OF THE HOUR for Ather vehicles

Yes it’s good but why Ather customers are charged for charging while vida is free for 2 year

Ather owners using vida fast chargers are being billed for the time charger is connected till it’s removed irrespective of if it’s charging or stopped charging very unfair I raised tickets multiple times for no use, also got zero response even in forum.

Vida owners can use Ather fast chargers or vida fast chargers and currently it’s free for them
