I wanted an Ather from 3yrs since I got to know about it , got it once I turned 18 i loved what a 450x was but now i kinda feel sad for myself for owning a gen 4, 450X
It was 6 months of ownership and then came the gen5 I felt a ick but was kinda okayy thought there would be backward compatibility but it wasn’t the case and now a year old gen 5 gets cruise control 
but not mine, no fan laggy dashboard, no features.. just nothing but regretting buying a gen 4 i hope nobody else faces what gen 4 has& is facing

The only thing stopping them is they have the code. But it will not be compatible/under developed for SD212. Only thing they have it fully developed is for newer chip. Even Apex 2024 falls under SD212. That’s mostly the reason they don’t want to give in.
Most likely they want to focus on newer SOC and leave the older Gen aside. PS traction control and all the safety gimmick they quote have nothing to do with enabling cruise control. They are making it a software gate.

I don’t think that is the reason, without traction control, the cruise system wouldn’t know how to safely apply regen without locking the rear tyres.

But isn’t the 2025 450X or gen 5 having the same snapdragon 212? Yet they gave the feature to them.
For older gens, they don’t have the speed sensor ring and the new brake switches. If they can be retrofitted atleast only the city cruise and crawl control can be given to older gens.

You do realize regen was there way before even in gen 1. And does not require a wheel rotation sensor for it to work. I think you are confusing with abs. Regen is totally different.

You guys said Ather Apex was a limited version, Hence purchased it when it was launched initially with a higher price tag… but now we do not get any benifits of traction controls or Cruz control…
Such a disaster to launch a limited version bike with no much features for the initial fan/crazy

The regen in the initial scooters weren’t strong enough to lock the wheel, the scooters equipped with magic twist produces a significant braking force that can easily lock the rear wheel,hence skid control hardware is essential for a safe implementation of their cruise system, which also incorporates hill ascend and descent control.
I think providing it safely is better than not providing at all unlike ola which gave strong regen even without a skid sensor.
What Ather can do is, provide a simple cruise control for all vehicles without hill ascend and descent control, in that case traction control sensors aren’t required.

Umm. MAGIC TWIST came before traction control. In Apex. Then it was rizta with traction. Still we can go forth and back. But reason to make traction control important to give out cruise control is lame. If traction control was such important for cruise then why is Rizta not having it?
It’s all software gate. Nothing more.
