Phone number OTP-based login is the most botched implementation I have experienced so far. Email-based OTP only comes during the login screen, after which the app forcefully wants to verify my number. Strangely, no OTP comes on the requested number, which means I am locked out of the app and locked out of all the smart features since Ather wants everything in the app.

Agree on this, what if there is no network and we are using WiFi only to connect to the App. We will not get the OTP.

I guess some people tried automating the login process with username and password. To avoid that the OTP method is introduced.
Whenever a new app version is released it just logs you in at the same time it logs out all other sessions if you have logged into multiple mobile devices.
I completely agree the 2FA method is needed to secure the login process, but not with the SMS based OTP. Ather to consider TOTP or other methods.
