After riding my Ather 450x Series 1, for 5 years and covering around 29,000 km, I can confidently say it has been one of the best vehicle decisions I have made. Even today, the scooter feels modern, quick, and enjoyable to ride. The biggest surprise is the battery performance. After 5 years of usage, I am still getting around 85 km range on a full charge, which is honestly impressive.( I usually drive single, in moderate traffic) I expected the range to drop much more over time, but the battery health has held up really well. For daily commuting and city rides, it is still more than sufficient. Performance-wise, the scooter still feels sharp and responsive. The acceleration is smooth, handling is excellent, and the riding confidence is much better compared to many conventional scooters. The build quality also deserves appreciation because there are no major rattling issues even after years of use. Coming to maintenance, my total expense over 5 years has been around ₹20,000 to ₹22,000, which I feel is reasonable for 29,000 km of riding. The major replacements done so far are: Primary belt replacement Secondary belt replacement Rear tyre replacement Front fork oil seal replacement Brake pads replaced twice Both wheel bearings replaced Apart from these regular wear-and-tear parts, the scooter has not given any serious trouble. Considering Indian road conditions and daily usage, this maintenance cost is quite acceptable. Another thing I appreciate is how future-ready the scooter still feels. The touchscreen dashboard, riding modes, connected features, and overall riding experience still feel premium even today. The scooter never feels outdated. Of course, there are a few areas where improvements could have been better. Spare parts and service costs are slightly on the higher side compared to petrol scooters. But overall reliability has been strong in my experience. After 5 years, my overall impression of the Ather 450x Series 1 is extremely positive. It has delivered a fun riding experience, low running cost, solid reliability, and excellent battery longevity. Even today, it continues to perform strongly and proves that a well-built EV can last for years without major battery concerns.
