Issue Summary:
I own an Ather 450X 2022 model and have been experiencing a throttle cut-off issue after riding continuously for 40+ km. Here’s what happens:
Initially, the scooter cuts the throttle intermittently while riding.
Reapplying the throttle restores power instantly without any noticeable power drop.
After some time, the scooter completely stops and displays:
*“Auto-hold feature disabled Icon.”
The scooter remains non-ridable for 15+ minutes until it cools down.
After cooling, I can ride again without issues.
Additional Observations:
This same issue happened one year ago but resolved itself overnight. Now, it has returned.
The service center couldn’t replicate the issue since the scooter behaved normally during testing.
I feel that the software is slightly laggy now.
The issue occurred on my ride back home from the service center, despite riding the same distance as when going there.
Has Anyone Else Experienced This?
I wanted to post this here to see if other Ather 450X owners have faced a similar issue.
Could this be a thermal sensor or software bug rather than actual overheating?
Is there any way to check logs for temperature and power cut-offs?
Any suggestions on how to diagnose this better before taking it back to the service center?
I faced the same issue with my Apex 2024. When I take the bike for a ride first thing in the morning, after about a kilometer, the Ather enters Limp Mode. AutoHold and MagicTwist get disabled, and the speed is limited to 30 km/h. However, switching the key off and on restores normal functionality.
Additionally, whenever I hit a bump, like rumble strips, the throttle briefly cuts off and then returns to normal.
I gave the bike for service on Saturday and am waiting for feedback today. The service team suspects it could be a rat bite or a throttle body issue. However, I believe it might be due to loose connectors or something similar, as the problem started only after my 10k service. The vehicle has yet to reach 10,900 km.
I’ll share an update once I receive feedback from the service center.
Also, I’ve noticed that the software feels sluggish all of a sudden.
When I got that issue, I drove all the way to the SC in Limp Mode only. For me SC is like about 6 Kms from my house. So that way they diagnosed and identified it was throttle issue.
Update : Visited the service center and got the error code. It was the accelerator assembly, and I replaced it for ₹1,178. Now it feels okay, and I think the issue is solved.
