Hi Any Updates Regarding inclusion of Brake Lock and Auto Brightness sensor ? Will These Be Implemented in Production Vehicles ? And Regarding Rear Disc Brake Which Has More Bite Compared to Front Disc which was Causing Rear Wheel To Lock Up Easily.Has This Issue been resolved ?

Hey @macchakaran, as for the resolution it supports 800x480 pixels, which wouldn’t be a really high-resolution screen for a multimedia device, however, for an outdoor vehicle with a 7’ screen and almost 2-ft of viewing distance, it will not show any pixelation.

As for the processing power and onboard storage, there’s more than enough to support the SW features planned for the vehicles, more layers of navigation, and yes, it does store maps cache.

The small hole above the screen is where the old Ambient light sensor used to be. Since the panels on the AtherSpace vehicles are from the time ALS was still there. The production vehicles will not have that small hole.

Ather should offer your own gloves as accessaries  https://www.instructables.com/id/Making-A-Glove-Work-With-A-Touch-Screen/

A Bluetooth connection would be really cool. I am sure you will say future variants will have it, but i don’t get why you guys did not consider it now! at least for the 450(the premium variant). It is a simple yet very useful feature. I am sure all the users would love it. The process pushing of maps from phone to the scooter would be better and could have been done without an internet connection. Since Ather is always connected, it may not always be the case with mobile phones. I feel this could have been addressed at this stage itself. If not for navigation, at least a small indicator to show calls.

To present a scenario, my office has a basement parking, where the network sucks(I cannot even get 2G there). In this case will my scooter still fetch the maps? I doubt that. If the touch panel had Bluetooth, I could use offline maps(Google maps or Ather’s own version of it) stored on my phone to navigate.
Mobile networks are highly unreliable. Hence the demand for Bluetooth.

How about a call notification feature on dashboard ?

The production vehicles will not have a brake lock or ALS.
The rear brake intensity will not be reduced dramatically, however, the locking up will be reduced. Also, it will be a good practice at the user’s end to use the right brake lever more often than using the rear brake, as the front brake provides more stopping power due to the weight distribution during forward movement. This is true for any vehicle.

Hi Ather Team,
i have few questions listed down:

1: I am concerned about the crash guard , do you have any options for it ? crash guard like the one we have like a outer steel frame to avoid any scratches or bump

2:I have pre-ordered 450 model and as informed to me earlier i will be getting the free charging station , but will i be getting the regular charger as well ? (the one like the laptop charger), if not can i buy this separately?

3:Do you offer any other accessories ?

@shruthiramesh5

  1. We do not have crash-guards for the scooters.
  2. The charging cable has to be purchased separately, it does not come free with the 450.
  3. At the moment, we do not offer any other accessories, once production stabilizes, and we have the bandwidth to design accessories, we might.

How much would the normal charging cable cost and what is its length ?
What is the power requirement for the charging socket ? Does the plug point need fuse ?

Is the Display scratch proof? If yes, well and good. If not, what is the option we have? Toughened Scratch Guard?

Thanks @Shreyas,
Now few on the Security features, while taking test drive, i was told that you guys are working on security features and nothing was finalized.
1: Do we get to have Geo-fencing feature or in coming future by OTA update ? i can guess you have all the hardware to bring this feature in ?
2: just worried that since this scooter is brand new and super hi-tech , while parked passer-by might tend to be naughty and try to meddle with the bike , or even try to steal it ! is there any thoughts form your end ?
3: Can you please confirm, While in charging mode , only the owner can remove the port from the bike (solenoid) and not others, is that right ?
3: Overall what are the security features for Ather scooters planned for production bikes.

The cost of the charging cable if bought separately is Rs. 4800 + GST, and the length is about 2.4 Meters.

The power requirement is around 1000W, which can easily be handled by a standard 5/6A plug point. A separate fuse is not required at the plug location, but there should always be a 6A circuit breaker in the circuit. Our team will take care of it during the installation.

While I’d not call it scratch-proof(no display technically is), it is scratch resistant. The cover glass on top is quite thick too as compared to normal phone screens making is much more durable for the outdoors.

  1. While we have worked on geo-fencing, the feature is not yet ready to be pushed to the vehicles. It might or might not come to the vehicles in the future, cannot commit that as it’s not finalized.

  2. This is true for any new/high-end vehicle in the market today.

  3. Yes, while charging, the vehicle locks the connector, and only when the key is turned on, the connector is disengaged and the charging stops.

  4. @surya.oruganti can answer this better.
