Inner race lower bearing. This part was replaced for me recently Ather charged 166.3 for the part
Ok. What would be the approximate time to replace the bearings if they do it without any distraction.
I really don’t know what it is.
They said 1200 for rear wheel bearings.
i am having similar issue
Totally forgot about this topic. Did you get it replaced? If yes what was the cost and where did you got it done, in Ather or at a local mechanic?
I replaced it in Ather service center only and it costed me 1200. The problem started after replacing this.
What happened is i left my scooter in the sc and nothing else i left only for changing the rear wheel bearing. They took 3-4 hours and i picked my scooter and came back to home and i didn’t hear any sound. The next day the sound started once again so i visited sc ASAP and they said that fitting the bearing could have gone wrong we’ll check once again, they said. This time i was in the sc seeing what will they do. They didn’t even check the bearings they actually said that it may be a belt alignment sound so they checked the belt and realigned it, by the time they realigned the belt the sound was almost gone. So i said I’ll see one more day and if the sound arises again i will leave it for 30k service and at that time they can check everything they want and it’s been 2 weeks the sound has not even reduced a bit so now i will leave it for service after 2-3 days. The problem is i don’t have a plan, i was almost buying it for my 30k service and these guys removed the plan, now i don’t think they will get the plans back. The service cost will be ~10,000 because they are gonna change my belts this time, both the brake pads are gone, even the disc plate (back) life is also coming to end (not sure). Both the handle grips needs to be changed they have become super sticky and finally this bearing sound. Also the front bearing too needs a change i think.
The story about this bearing was, at first when i noticed the sound was when the scooter was left in rains and when i keep the scooter in sun for 3-4hours the sound was not coming and these monsoon days didn’t have much sunlight, it was raining all the day so the sound got worse and i changed the bearing, after changing as i said the sound didn’t stop and this rain was coming back to back but this time i kept the scooter in sunlight the whole day but still the sound is not going so should see what is the real problem, is it the belt or the bearing. If it was with the belt why should it appear as soon as i changed my bearing. Sometime i doubt that did the sc really changed the bearing or just cleaned it and billed me.
I hope you understood what i said ![]()
From my point of understanding is, you got your bearing replaced, sound subsidies, noise returns, they realigned the belt, still the noise of belt won’t go. And now they want to make even more money out of you by replacing both belts, both brake pads and front wheel bearing too.???
Currently I’m in a search for both alternatives for belts, in market the width does not match the Ather’s, looks like they custom made for their scooters.
But if I get the correct part the price will be 1/4 of what you get at the company. Hope you would see a different service centre when you leave for your 30k service.
Yes but i don’t know it’s the belt noise or bearing noise. I heard the sound by putting a paddock, it’s very hard to say that which one is making the sound. According to me i think it’s bearing sound only.
No, both the brake pads were replaced in 20k service and it may barely run another 500-1000km, they were not replaced in 25k service too now according to me they are almost 90% weared out. The front bearing is also making noise, that too riding in this monsoon season has made it worse so i can hear a light scrubbing sound from the front tyre too, which according to me will also run another 1000-1500km. So need to replace both of them ( brake pads and front bearing ). Actually i don’t have any idea on the belts, when i asked the sc about the belt life while checking the bearing sound, they said that the belts are almost 90% weared out and it needs to be changed in the upcoming service but i don’t know how to identify the belt life just by looking at it so I’ll ask one more time that should i replace the belts if yes then what can i do? Will change it?
I’m just worried about the belt cost, it’s too much. If the belt was covered in plan rest other i would have paid.
At this point, you’d be lucky if they have belts in stock lol
It’s just a matter of time before the spare part will be available in the market, The Belt which usually costs 3500 in Ather will be available for under 1000 rs with even far better quality. The part which I know are readily available is Brake Pads, Suspension - Both Front and back.
But replacing belts is time-consuming and not worth it.
Yup, that is too much. Either they are earning too much or their supplier is.
Ok now after completing my 30k service what the sc said is, that the sound is coming from the belt and there is no issue of my bearing and i thought the belt needs to be changed but what they said is it will run another 5000km so no need to change but the sound is coming because the belt has become hard which isn’t a problem right now. For now no sound is there, it had been 2-3 weeks hearing that sound continuously and now everything in the scooter feels so smooth and calm and I’ll see, maybe if i ride in rain or after 500km the sound may arise again?
Since both the belts were not changed the total service cost was just 1,187. So for now I’m happy because without subscription it’s actually less. Even if i had bought subscription it would have costed me 3,500 and i don’t think i would have done 2 services in a year so i have plenty of time now, let them take their own time and launch some subscription plan. For me if belts are covered it is more than enough.
The sound isn’t there because belt is clean. Once it pics up dust and debri it will make sound.
I have started making a routine to clean it every Sunday. Scooter
runs like butter.
How are you cleaning it?
Put it in padlock stand open the belt cover and clean it.
Can you link us to the paddock stand you’re using?
Even when the sound was coming the belt was clean. I had washed the scooter especially near the belt region two times but still the sound was coming.
Hi suraj how did u sort out this problem of handlebar stiffened after service ? Me too have same problem after servcing…
Charger is not locking every time i put my Ather for charging it always shows Unlocked Processing: image.jpg…
You need to really push the charger in the socket till you hear a click sound. That confirms that the charger is locked. Try restarting if its still not happening
I too faced it, you need to push the charger inside so it locks properly until you hear a sound.
