So there is finally a difference between probable charger and dot charger on how it charges. But this is never mentioned anywhere.
Looks like dot charger is designed for everyday use. And it tickle charges from 80% to 100% because it is assumed that you will leave your vehicle connected to the dot charger over night.
Portable charger does not do tickle charging for the last 20% because it is designed to be portable and within this use case it is not expected that you will leave your portable charged connected overnight.
Can someone from Ather team please confirm this? This needs to be mentioned to the customers so that they can make an informed decision. During purchase I was told that both works similar.

Also recently after the new update of optimised charging, after updating it the optimised option was switched on but I wanted it off since I charge my vehicle once in 3 days so 100% charge is required but after turning off if I charge it throughout the night earlier it would be at 96 or 97 because the solenoid lock takes some charge and it agains charges back to 100 after an interval but now if I keep it throughout the night in the morning it is at 88 or 87 percent and doesn’t charge further to bring bak to full for some reason.
hmmm, i don’t think there’s a difference. i’ve read somewhere in the forums (and seen pictures) that the portable charger and the dot are exactly the same.
the only two differences are:
- the outside body (ie; wall mounting friendly design vs the storage friendly design)
- the dot can only be used with the vehicle it has been paired with.
perhaps, there’s a software difference in each? clarification from Ather guys (tho highly unlikely) would be very much appreciated!
I faced this incident multiple times and luckily avoided accidents.
I mostly riding my schooter with my son 5 years old. Sometimes my kid switched off the kill button while running above 50km speed in a heavy vehicles moving road, then i noticed i cannot turn on the motor immediately and continue my ride. Only i can start by Stop my vehicle to 0 speed and then can start.
I unfortunately escaped from 2 accidents due to the vehicles are suddenly stopped and those vehicles behind me also stopped else they will hit my vehicle at the busy road.
Please help on this. like petrol vehicle we can start engine at any speed without stopping vehicle.
I feel this will be a major issue who are riding with their kids in busy roads.
Let me is there any options?
Powering up the electronics at a high speed may damage it,so u will not be able to restart the scooter again at a high speed.It is given for a safety purpose only

I am asking for my family safety.
Atleast update the kill switch function at below 5km speed and will the machine keep on above 10km speed.
In Ather, are Headstock and Cone set the same?

I mean, the front suspension makes some noise whenever i go over a small pothole or a patch of road like tack-tack sound and i think that something has gotten loose or sometimes it feels like the whole front suspension’s gonna break and sometimes when i hit the front brake at low speeds the whole front part shakes, currently this front part shaking is not there while applying the front brake but tack-tack sound even on small patches of road i can hear it clearly and it really doesn’t feel good.
So when i showed it to SC, first they said HEADSTOCK must have gotten loose and after going a ride they said CONE SET has gotten loose so they said it needs to be tightened and for that it cost’s ~250.
So i actually got a doubt that HEADSTOCK should be tightened or CONE SET to be tightened to solve the issue?
You are on a service plan? It would be covered if you are on one, but I think it would be a loose cone set only, as its prime symptom would be while applying brakes the handle would make a tick tick sound and would feel super loose.

no, Headstock is the upper portion of the handlebar, while the coneset is like a bearing between the frame and them - the upper handlebar and T-bar. Both are usually connected with bolt nuts, and it’s highly unlikely the bolt comes loose.
When the scooter is charging in the service center it doesnt need to be turned off, it charges in key on position. It should be in warp mode and the kill switch should be engaged thats it, it will be charging at high speed
In app also it doesn’t show charging

here in Okhla, Delhi they simply use your portable charger lol
open board of fast charger, just like mine, it will not turn on the screen nor the app will show the scooter is charging. All service centres charge the scooter this way only.

Anybody having a smart plug can you please check whether the optimized charging to 80% is cutting off the current or does it still trickle charges after 80% because everytime i leave it at 80% and if i remove the charger after some 2-3 hours it would show 82%. We can’t let the current flow all the time, if it stops at 80% the current flow should also stop, so if a device or a smart plug will show the value, so anyone can confirm this?
Also when i charge at Ather grid to say 70% and remove the charger and turn off the key and if i turn it on after 2-3 hours the % would be increased to 71 or 72% sometimes it even increases by 4%, even if i drive immediately after removing the charger for just 0.4 or 0.8km and park it and after 2-3 hours if i see the charge would be increased. Don’t know what Ather’s BMS is doing here

When Gen 2 was launched Ather was not like this it was very easy to use no issues nothing. Now when they launched Gen 3 and this new dashboard theme one after one issues are reflecting. The main issue is the dashboard, even if I’m not using it, it really lags very very much. After turning off the key it takes 3-4 second to turn off the dashboard. Sometimes when i do a restart also it stucks so for restart to get solved i should do another restart in the restart stage itself
this was not the case before.
