Deliveries: Hyderabad

I felt touch screen has issue when u use navigation and change your ride from eco to ride or sport …the navigation hangs…

So it’s more or less same like the prototype. I expected better performance from snapdragon

I felt the same but there will be a software update soon as per the pride motors(ather)

Even I experienced glitch in the touch screen, I was not able to exit the park assist mode. I had to turn of the scooter eventually…

A small tip: Use the shortcut for park assist. Left break , indicator in and ignition button. It’s really quick to use.

Did you face any issues with dot mapping etc… are you able to charge the scooter at home now?

Not yet charged at home… dot charger is not yet synced with my ather 450x yet…they said it needs a day to get that done. Even the app doesnt recognize the scooter yet. I charged at ather grid :grinning:

I’ve put together a small write up of my delivery experience in Hyderabad. I hope this helps folks whose deliveries are lined up, let me know if there’s anything else that you’d like to know about.

How it all started:

I’ve been following Ather for some time and the Hyderabad announcement really got me excited. I then had a chance to test ride the 450 over a weekend in Jan 2020 when Ather managed to bring down a couple of bikes to Hyderabad.

Pre booking:

I pre booked the 450x as soon as the booking window was open and then started the waiting game. Covid happened and that mentally prepared me for a 2021 delivery. Then came the surprise announcement from Ather that deliveries are on track, which got me excited again. CE was soon unveiled, though I opted for it, I was clear that I’d pick up whichever color was available first. I then attended the city unveil webinar. Details and location about Hyderabad dealership were shared and I visited the space (under renovation). It was mixed a feeling as the space which earlier was a restaurant where I had many good times with friends and family is now making way for Ather. Aditya (product specialist) from Ather attended me and facilitated a WARP mode test ride on a 450(450x’s test ride vehicles still haven’t arrived then). WARP mode blew me away. Period. I was familiar with the handling as I test rode the 450 earlier. I then had a long conversation with Aditya about the delivery timelines, life tax and registration waiver by the state government, color availability etc. He then told me about my serial number in the order, they would start cold calling customers and check who were willing to put down the full payment since Loan, and Lease options would not be available on launch. I then got a call on 16th November stating that the scooter would be delivered on the 18th if I made the full payment to which I said yes. Bank account details were shared, I transferred the amount and the receipt was confirmed soon. I went with the dot and I got a call for installation on the evening of 17th that the team would visit my place the next morning. The team was at my place around 8.45 am and they were done with the installation by 10.

Day of Delivery :

I was asked to visit the space for delivery after 4pm. I was there by 4.30 and I was told that the earlier deliveries got delayed due to an issue in the RTA website and mine would take time. The MD of Pride group was there to handover the bikes and we had a conversation about Ather and how the partnership materialized. At about 6-6.15 I was shown my scooter which I checked for any minor scratches. It had 98% charge and 3 km on the odo. I was informed that the breakup had the Bangalore insurance price and Hyderabad premium was higher. I paid the difference and dot installation charges. A customary pic followed, and I was off. I was only handed RTA and insurance documents and was told that I would receive the invoice copy in a couple of days. The dot was not mapped when I took the delivery and I was told that it would happen before day end. Next morning I tried logging into the app to check if the scooter was assigned to my account, it was not. I then checked if the dot recognized the scooter, that did not happen too. I then spoke to the folks at Pride who informed that they are working on it. The day passed by and nothing happened. Next day I got a call saying that my original pre booking against which the scooter was issued I shown as cancelled in the order management system and hence the delay. I was given a portable charger until the issue got resolved. 4 days passed and the mapping wasn’t done. According to Ather, my pre order was in some suspended state and they tired everything to fix it. As a last resort, I was asked to create a fresh pre booking order which I did and shared the order id. With the next hour, the scooter was tagged to my account and the dot recognized the scooter.

Bottom line:

Speaking from the delivery experience that I had and from what I’ve gathered from others who took delivery, the experience was not what Ather promised all along. The delivery seemed rushed and there are still a lot of moving parts that have to come together specifically for the new cities where Ather chose the dealership route. I know as an enthusiast and an early adaptor, I anticipated some teething issues and in the hindsight everything might seem ok, but not every customer will be forgiving. Having said that I like both scooter and Ather.

Time line:

Ather space visit for test ride: 7th November

Call asking for full payment: 16th November

Full payment: 16th November

Dot Installation: 18th November morning

Delivery: 18th November evening

Congratulations Rajesh.

Thanks for the run up. Which color 450X did you opt ultimately ?

If you feel they rushed your delivery you should have been in Bangalore queue… They are dragging it in all steps… almost frustrated… no insurance generated for which I had paid over a week back and they all speak same language soon, asap, very soon etc.,

Thank you Satya. I picked up the grey

Thats odd. I somehow thought the issues in Hyderabad was a result of Ather not being in control of the delivery process.

If Ather was not in control of the delivery process in Hyderabad then many people would have got the S1 here by now.

It’s sad to see Ather trying hard to be a part of process which they’re not able to control :unamused:

Where is ur scooter no plate ?!!

We have to go to the registration office to get it done…unlike banglore where u get ur plate and no# along with bike here in hyd they are doing regular process as regular bike.

I too thought Bangalore would be much faster but it is not… For the Series 1 we booked it in Jan 2020 and have waited almost about a year now, earlier I understand due to COVID there may have been a delay but now when we know the 450x is ready and out may be parked in some warehouse, atleast now Ather should show some urgency from their side, all I get to here from them is soon, asap in process, infact when its out now Ather should show some speed in their process knowing customers have waited already too long.

In Bangalore without No plate (TR No or PR No) they are not giving delivery.

You will get TR no when u take delivery.
