Thanks bro… Even I have considered everything as per screen shot that you have shared but for 3 years… So down-payment is ₹75K and monthly rent of ₹2517… So can be more specific on other expenses that you want to highlighted…?
Thanks… Yes I agree 3yrs to 3yrs comparison will be more apt… But in my case I have completed 5yrs and have spend more on ware and tare like you said… So in way I wanted to account it and hence I calculated for 5yrs to per day cost and then calculated back to 3 yrs running cost…

Even your average Rs 10lakh honda city dosn’t require so much in service cost. At best a routine bike requires a oil change and air filter change, brake adjustment if it has drum brakes.
So your calculations are wrong or you are getting ripped of by your bike repair workshop.
Like I said earlier, it is not just general service cost but includes all ware & tare and parts replacement over a period of 5yrs (based on my driving pattern the expected and unexpected bike issues).
If we just consider the routine service like you have mentioned then per month service cost calculation will not be relevant in my case. Also if you have a bike which gives a mileage of 60 to 80kmpl then petrol cost per month calculation will also be wrong.
And since I am aware of what kind of parts I have replaced I will not agree that repair workshop has ripped me off. (But in general it is true that repair shops take you for granted and take for a ride, if we are not aware of issues in vehicle)
My four year old Access makes me pay almost 2.5k for parts whenever I send it for service. Hate it!

I agree. First 3 years of my scooter, my average service cost per 3 months was 800.
Now into 6th year, my last 1.5 years my average service cost per quarter is 2000.
Battery change, Tyre change, unexpected repairs based on the bad road.
So my experience in last 6 years of petrol scooter, service cost per month is 500.

@sandeepnvp what on earth, you need 150k service cost for a bike in 5 years even if you include the parts? With that money you could buy new one all together.
I have been driving BMW 320d from 5 years and I spent 100k for parts including tyres. Regular service once in a year costs around 40k.
Supporting EVs is good. But this bullishness looks silly.

If you are in bangalore atleast for honda scooter service, you will know that they rip you off, check the bill and it will have stuff like engine additives, battery charging, air fill etc and unspecified consumables. Which one never asked.
My 9 year old Honda aviator was serviced with authoized service center (A.S.S) till the warranty. After which I just change the oil and air filter every year, by myself or get the oil changed at shell pump.
Only if it requires a clutch or brake drum change do you i give it to the A.S.S. The scooter runs like clock work. Many a times these service centers deliberetly screw up a perfectly fine vehicle to fleece money from a unsuspecting customer. I have the workshop manual and even if you follow service instructions in that manual, the service cost should not be that much. For a average service per year excluding labour, that consumables and parts should be no more then Rs 500 a year.
@sandeepnvp Even my brother who owned a 1000c super bike in early 2000s, didn’t spend that much on service, only tires and oil consume the most of the service cost. Now the A.S.S will rip anyone off routinely.

Just cross check the service cost per 5 yrs. 150 k is too much.
My Safari Storme which is 5.5 yrs old have spent about 80 k which includes Tyres+brakepads+clutch+ Engine oil and related accessories.

Thanks for your feedback… I accept that my calculation on bike service cost is wrong. I reviewed my service cost excel and found that ₹2500 is not per month cost but per 3 months cost average out over 5yrs…

i have did a calculation when we are at chennai event
for my long trip till date
2500km
i must have spent 110 units on higher side (considering i get only 70km per 3 units - but i get at least 80 to 85)
even with commercial slab in A.P it must have costed
rs.1100
if we consider residential slab it will be 40-50% lesser
with all being said
i witness lack of awareness more than interest…
also the range factor comes in discussion most of the time, without even realizing that most of us never commute more than 40km a day
and they start questioning about going to other cities and home towns - and miss the logic that they do only once a quarter the most
lastly the start of electric scooters made us think those are just for kids and not so fun riding them
we need more performance bikes in the market with affordable price
am sure the competition grows and we will reach that point

Any Ideas or Guess, what would be the resale value of Ather 450 after one year, two years or three years, will there be any buyers for seconds?
This would be useful if anyone is moving out of city other than Bangalore or Chennai.
Yes there is lease option, but this is in case of full payment.

This is going to be a guess as wild as telling who’s going to win the next world cup.
Because it depends on how obsolete the current generation Ather 450 becomes based on what things comes in 3 years time
I still think a nicely maintained Ather 450 can get 50k after 3 years.
