I’ve ridden the 450 before. Took my wife for a test ride today. She had issues reaching the switchgear while still holding the handlebars. The switchgear is a long reach away from the grips for people with small-ish hands. You will need to look down, taking your eyes off the road, in order to operate the switches.

I had no issues but I have very large hands. Something to consider of you are on the smaller side of average.

I dont know whether this is the right thread to post but yesterday I received my DL and the first thing I did was book for a test drive , I had booked ather in September and I’ll do the payment tomorrow but I had booked without a test drive thinking ather will be good but it was beyond my expectations man the sports mode is a boon it just flies in sports mode . Anyways loved the experience at ather space where they briefed me on th product in detail from A-Z and the test drive was amazing. Good job ather team keep up the good spirit .:smiley:. But I have 1 drawback that is that the seat isn’t comfortable I am 6 feet 2 inches and I feel like I’m sliding and need to go back

It’s true, Ather 450 is different from other EVs. Please express your experience in english.

Very excited to take 1st drive of Ather 450, yes and today I got the chance to ride on Ather with my wife. Also Happy to see Roshan from Ather caus his also as much as excited like me to tell the story and specifications of Ather.
1 st test drive of Ather 450 really surprised by performance. I took test drive of bajaj chetak and Okinawa last week but surely tell that both E. V. don’t stand in front of Ather 450.
I wish all the best and congratulate all the Ather guys for making 450 and we also like to see 450x in upcoming days. …:+1:t2:

I visited the Ather showroom at Indiranagar Bengaluru today saw the vehicle & took the test ride. The below are my observations:- 1, The Body is made of ABS Plastic 2, No Center Stand, no brake lock to prevent scooter slide if parked on incline with side stand 3, Speedo Touch panel not responsive 4, No pillion foot rest, only a flimsy Saree guard 5, No keyless operation 6, No Glovebox 7, Black panelling not of good quality 8, Switchgear not of good quality 9, Range very low (as per company) 10, Battery cannot be charged by normal electric socket 11, Rear View Mirrors not of good quality 12, No colour choices 13, The aluminium chassis looks very delicate 14, No Mobile Charger 15, No Mobile notification regarding unauthorised access & health of scooter.

Now coming to the test ride :- 1, Loud whine due to motor & belt drive 2, Not much difference between the 3 drive modes 3, Pickup not so great (just imagine what if 2 persons were riding) Overall looks very delicate with only the front touchpanel adding value with unnecessary confusing features.

I compared this with Bajaj Chetak Electric Scooter & was simply swept off my feet by the VFM features that Bajaj has to offer👍

Wow didn’t expect this

They are just the overlying panels

I ASSURE you that there is a side stand

This might have been a software issue with that particular scooter

Same ARAI rated as Chetak I think. Almost the same.

Yes it can with a 5A socket

The mobile charger is available. When you buy the scooter you can opt for the home charging pod or a portable charger. The charger is a 15A plug but it does come with a 15A to 5A plug converter if I’m not wrong

Yes but the 450X comes in 3 colours.

Been asking Ather for this for a while now. Sadly isn’t available as of now

Looks are decieving. Been using it for over a year now. It’s not delicate trust me. It’s much stronger than whta you’d get on a activa or access or the chetak

I really don’t think you when hard on the throttle. The sharp features of the 450 does look a bit intimidating. But the numbers say it all too. The 450 is much quicker to 40,60,80 than the Chetak. If you want to draw a comparison.

Only way I’d accept this if you’re comparing it say maybe a 200cc ICE bike or maybe the 450X(?)

In all honest. There are some features I’d say the chetak has and Ather 450 doesn’t but as a package Ather 450 offers a tad bit more as a modern urban mobility vehicle.

  • Chetak has no option of rear disc break , standard on Ather 450
  • The power of the Ather is simply leagues ahead of the chetak
  • Stability of the Ather is much more. Chetak is not a well equally balanced scooter due to the side mounted motor.
  • Chetak’s top speed is limited to 60kmph vs the 80 on Ather
  • Chetak has stopped production and pre orders due to inability to import it’s battery from China as of now
  • The chetak’s dashboard is well, not colourful  for starters. Idk how to even compare the 2

But comes down to personal preference but , I really urge you to take another visit to the Ather show room and take another test ride and to spend some time there and understand the 450 a bit more

You sir, have a formal invitation from me to test ride my personal vehicle.

Point 2: you are completely wrong…in fact it’s got only side stand. Point 10: portable charger is there for that. Point 4: again you are wrong. There is a pillion footstep but not for ladies who sit one sided. Point 13: please let me know how you arrived at this conclusion.

You’ve listed only “No” features…would like to hear what “Yes” features you found in Ather 450.

But overall very interesting observations…

Iam trying to convey that Ather is loaded with unnecessary features which we hardly use/notice during our hectic daily routine. Where is the space to enjoy the top speed in the crawling traffic, let alone the advantage of disc brake in the rear wheel

I’d like to give mine for a day. I’m not sure with which ICE scooter your comparing it. But it’s just not true.

Iam just comparing with the VFM Bajaj Chetak Electric Scooter

It’s not ICE, but Bajaj Chetak Electric Scooter :zap:

It’s a question of safety sir. A disc break is always more superior. Better breaking power. More reliable. The athers perfect weight balance makes it superior to the chetak in safety and stability.

You yourself said the pick up might be less for 2 people, I wonder if you’ve checked the pickup on the chetak. I would love to meet you at a chetak showroom and prove it wrong. Ather is loaded with features. Un necesary? Thats a personal preference.

You are talking of safety of an ABS Plastic body Scooter against Steel Body of Chetak❓

I’d like to know how did you find Chetak to be VFM? The base model, that is Urbane itself it 1.11L on road. How is it VFM? Ather is faaaaaaar better in terms of VFM.
