Portable charger

Any body got portable charger ? And how was experience ?!!!

I have got one, using it to charge at office and outside the city. You must buy a 15 AMP to 5 AMP converter to charge anywhere. The charging time is same as DOT I feel. But its very heavy and it occupies most of the boot space in my vehicle.

If you actually see the portable charger directly you will not feel like buying it but if you go outstation frequently or if your workplace has charging facility for E-vehicles then you can think of buy it.

Since I have the Community Portable Charger (version 2.0) with me now, Yesterday evening I did a quick side-by-side comparison with my own portable charger (version 1.0)

Adapter Dimensions
Length (in) Breadth (in) Height (in) Weight (kg)
Version 1.0 6.5 2.5 1.5 0.500
Version 2.0 8.25 4.25 3.25 2.500
Cable Length Dimensions
From adapter to power plug (ft) From adapter to vehicle side plug (ft)
Version 1.0 0.67 (8 inches) 6.50
Version 2.0 6.50 4.00

The package
V2.0 comes with a case made with felt like material. The V1.0 came in a small pullstring clothbag

Inside the case
Inside the bag, the V1.0 came in a ESD safe cover.

Version 1.0 with my half face helmet in the boot
I also have space to keep a rain coat, a cloth jacket, a small mask in this (not in picture). I can replace this helmet with a full face one.

Version 2.0 in the boot

Version 2.0 with my half face helmet just about fit in the boot
No space for anything else! forget a full face helmet.

Summary
Version1.0 Version 2.0
Plus
Small and portable Sufficiently long cables
5A plug-can charge almost everywhere Low grounding issues
Lightweight Scooter is now lighter
Works with older 450 too
Minus
Sensitive to grounding issues Big and Bulky
Doesn’t work with new 450 Heavy
Short cable length Cannot wake up older 450 from 0% SOC
15A plug-not easy to find everywhere

No call from C.C YET

I think you should call them up. Because in Bangalore you can collect it anytime after you’ve completed the payment. Since it’ll be at the ather space and they just need confirmation of the payment.

One Question to the @Ather.Team

Old home charger was called Point
New home charger is called Dot

Old portable charger was called Cable

Why isn’t the new portable charger given any name? It could’ve been named as “Line” or “Box” or something like that

It does look like a Dash

Hey Abhishek, the user manual for the portable charger says I shouldn’t use an extension cord to power the portable charger. But more often than not, an extension cord will be necessary to charge, during long rides or even when charging elsewhere apart from home. What do you recommend we do?

Also, does @Abhishek @rajeshkav @hemanth.anand or anyone else recommend a good extension cord to charge the vehicle with the portable charger?
