Hello Ather users, My Vehicle was purchased 2 years back and odo reading is little less than 9k. Used fast charging twice. Now the vehicle is giving only half of range when the charge comes below 30% (above 30 to 100%, is fine). Service person informed that health is at 86%.
Do you all think whether this is normal pattern ? It’s been just 2 years with minimum usage.
Can we use wd40 silicone spray for Ather 450x belt to reduce the noise
It will reduce but not often bro
Wash Belt, Spray 3-4 Times by Moving the Vehicle towards Front.
Then after drying, The Noise will go
But I suggest to check the Belt Tension and Quality innthe SC
Ok Thanks bro
Don’t use it will damage rubber parts
Even in sc they spray wd40 on belts , it feels smooth for some time
It’s not good it will affect the life of belt
Why previous service history vanished from Ather app recently? I checked both of my vehicles, others can confirm the same.
That’s why one should preserve their invoices. I just thought if someone had deleted their Whatsapp chats, didn’t take physical invoice or not kept them properly, how are they gonna prove if they had to claim warranty of, for example, when was the Belt replaced last? The SC might but not necessarily have data, we’ve seen such cases.
Or an accessory like Side step, when I claimed it’s warranty they asked me to furnish the purchase invoice.
Sharing My Experience with Battery Replacement – Series 1 Collector’s Edition
Hey everyone,
I wanted to share my recent experience with a battery replacement for my Series 1 Collector’s Edition, which I bought around 2021 through early booking. Over the past 3 years and 10 months, I’ve clocked around 23,600 kms, with the app showing savings of ₹52,900—thanks to my relatively low daily usage.
The Issue: Sudden Drop in Range
A few days back, I noticed a major drop in range. The scooter charged quickly but also discharged just as fast. Despite the meter showing 85 km on a full charge, I could barely manage 25 km before it hit zero.
Troubleshooting Steps:
- I booked a service through the app and was advised to:
- Check tyre pressure
- Review riding habits
- Reboot the scooter and monitor a full-charge trip
I followed all the steps over 2-3 days—but nothing changed.
Visiting the Service Center:
I decided to visit the nearest service station. The technician informed me that if it was a battery issue, it could take up to a month to fix. I left the scooter there, and after 3 days, I got a call asking if I had an extended warranty. Turns out, my battery health was at 68% and required replacement.
Unfortunately, I didn’t have an extended warranty. Since I purchased it before 2022, I wasn’t eligible for an extension either.
Replacement Options:
I was given two choices:
- Repair the current battery – ₹10,000 (~1-month wait) with 6 months warranty
- Full battery replacement – ₹30,000 with 1-year warranty
Given the options, I opted for a full replacement. The total bill came to around ₹31,300.
Total Cost Breakdown:
- Purchase Price: ₹1.9 lakhs
- Battery Replacement: ₹31,300
- Repairs Over 3.9 Years: ₹8,000 (including belt & brake pad replacements)
Why I Regret Buying an Ather – Lessons from My Battery Replacement Experience
In a nutshell, never bet on early-stage technologies. It’s better to wait until a product is fully refined and stable in the market. After nearly 4 years with my Series 1 Collector’s Edition, I’m left extremely dissatisfied with Ather, and here’s why:
1. Poor Service Experience:
- No POS machines at service centers — payments are only accepted via cash or UPI.
- Constantly had to chase service centers for updates. Instead of focusing on quality service, I overheard managers discussing ways to maximize revenue from service departments, openly admitting they’re running at a loss.
2. Weak Customer Support:
- Minimal to no response from support channels during the entire battery issue process.
3. Unexpected Costs:
- Despite initial savings, my overall cost after the battery replacement and recurring repairs has ended up being higher than a traditional ICE scooter.
After 3 years and 10 months, I honestly regret buying an Ather. The early excitement didn’t translate into long-term value, and the poor after-sales service just made things worse. If you’re considering one, think twice and maybe wait for the technology and service ecosystem to mature.
Ather’s poor customer support and service experience seem to be a common issue. I’ve spent around ₹4000 on just three services, yet the service centers prioritize meeting their targets over genuine customer support. Even when providing detailed explanations about an issue, they fail to understand the problem, indicating a lack of experienced professionals.
Here’s the ugly truth about batteries
doesn’t matter how wild or careful you are, after 4 years, you’re lucky to hit 80-85% health.
Ather’s new battery management system sounds fancy, but I’m skeptical. Older gen owners can’t even buy the 8-year warranty extension feels like a calculated cash grab. A 2.9 kWh battery’s around 30k,
They better fix this fast, ‘cause Gen 3 users will start feeling the warranty pinch in 6-8 months. Do something Ather !
Ather Battery Woes
Got an update from the Ather team over a call today. I explained how my battery health dropped to 68% in less than 4 years with just 24,000 km on the odo, forcing me to replace the battery pack. Surprisingly, they still asked again what the issue was.
For them, paying ₹31.3K for a replacement battery isn’t a big deal—even for such an expensive scooter. The new pack comes with just a 1-year warranty, with no clarity on its long-term durability.
In my case, the battery was already offered at a 50% discount. Makes me wonder—did someone pay the full ₹60K before, or will someone else end up paying it in the future? Their final word? “Nothing can be done.”
Feels like we early adopters were just test subjects. #Ather #EVExperience #BatteryIssues #EarlyAdopterChallenges
So does this mean that we were wrong to trust @tarun when he said you do not need to buy the extended battery warranty during its launch?
Now I am nervous about getting my gen2’s battery health checked
