To start this topic, this will be a weekly or bi-weekly update on fixing a completely flooded Gen1.5 450. This happened during the December 2023 Chennai floods.
To start this scooter was able to drive to the Nungambakkam ASC, but it was completely neglected for the next 60 days and sat there with water damage. now electronics don’t like any like of mineral deposits on their boards.
Current stats Mechanically the scooter is in good condition.
It’s not mine, I forgot to mention it’s my Chennai OG Group member’s. It was with the service centre till May I think. Since he didn’t have insurance at the time of the incident he was not that much of in a mood to repair it.
The service estimate was around 1.20L, the scooter’s original cost. So he brought it back home and let it live there.
He has previously tried to charge the battery but that was impossible since the scooter had a burned converter. So I towed it this August thinking of at least reviving the BMS to let the scooter charge.
I’m Thinking of reviving at least the Motor, Motor controller, and Display motherboard. LCD can’t be revived as water has swept inside the layers of it.
The total pack is showing 8.6v while the load section is showing 4.6v it’s very odd. I need to figure out how to wake this thing up as it’s not accepting any charge from any charger even my aftermarket charger.
i suggest you do a clean with 100% isopropyl before jumpstarting it, i heard from someone that theres a physical reset button for the BMS somewhere dont know if its true
In the All India WA group?, it was me. it is there but will not do anything. The physical need of having a Button in the BMS questions everything. Since the old method was good with shorting the Load(-) with battery pack (-). Ather just overcomplicates everything.
Do u think the battery is in dead state ?
It could happen as due to the minerals it kept on sucking on power till it just physical broke or the battery was completed sucked dry
Battery is dead, but dead batteries can be revived. It’s dead because it directly feeds the 12v converter and there was a huge burn in the pcb, it was so hugh that the board broke into 2 pc. Ather Nungambakkam escaped from becoming a news topic.
