Currently, regen only activates when the state of charge (SOC) drops below 90%. Could we explore the possibility of allowing regen to start at 98% SOC instead?
This would potentially improve range, especially for those of us navigating city traffic where coasting is frequent. Earlier regen could help in utilizing braking energy more effectively.
I believe this adjustment could enhance the riding experience and overall efficiency. Would appreciate feedback from the Ather team and community!
if it was possible Ather would have already done it but when battery is at that high SOC its damaging to fast charge it,hence in magic twist Ather is allowing regen but wasting it has heat till 90%
The apex throws the excess on the moter as heat
I doubt that’s possible on older gens (from 3rdgen)
We can only Changer the battery we cannot dump the excess like apex dose
We could tho cuz we have an active fan
But if they do that they know how screwed they are cuz other gen don’t have active cooling system
Does turning coasting regen on affect the life of brake pads in the long run? I felt this feature may be more of a hindrance than good. If you’re in peak traffic and you close the throttle the vehicle slows down, the person behind you may not anticipate this as the brake lights won’t be lit. This may put undue pressure on the rider behind. Thoughts?
some might like it, some maynot. To me personally, i dont use this feature and infact the performance, range are way better without it. Believe me, depending on the timings i travel and road terrains, without using this feature i get around 1.5X of the range for an 450S. Yes in real , my personal usage.
