As a precautionary measure to prevent spread of COVID-19, Ather Space in Chennai and Bengaluru will remain closed for test rides and enquiries until 31st March 2020. However, vehicle deliveries will continue to happen and Ather Grid points at our experience centers will be accessible.

Necessary precautionary measures will be undertaken by our experience center staff during deliveries. For those visiting for the delivery of your scooter, please note that the shutters may be kept only half-open but there will be people to assist you.

We are scaling down service operations to avoid exposure. Periodic servicing & any major concerns that are hindering the ride will be supported. If you have any minor concerns, do hold off on placing a service request until the situation stabilises.

We are constantly reviewing the situation and any updates further to this shall be communicated.

A new step in the registration process - One-time password

Since Monday this week, a new step has been introduced on ‘Vahan’ - the portal for handling vehicle registrations at RTOs.

When the details are entered on the portal for registration, a one-time password (OTP) gets triggered to the registered mobile number. This OTP is essential to complete the submission and proceed further with the registration process.

This is what the SMS will read like

999999: OTP for Owner Mobile-No Verification at the time of New Registration. Valid for one-time use. Please share with concerned RTO/Dealer staff only.

Since we are managing the process for you, we will give you a call from 080-46808088 to get this OTP from you. Do share the OTP only over the call.

To contain the spread of COVID-19, the central and state governments have imposed a lockdown in Chennai and Bengaluru until 31st March 2020. The government has mandated pausing all non-essential services during this time.

If you have a delivery scheduled in the next few days:

• In Chennai, all vehicle deliveries scheduled Wednesday and later are being postponed till further notice. The deliveries planned for tomorrow will happen as per schedule.

• In Bengaluru, all vehicle deliveries are postponed till further notice.

We will be unable to meet the committed delivery dates due to these extraordinary circumstances.

For owners, our service operations will be halted until further notice.

What this means for you

• Periodic servicing (due every 5000 km) and other service requests will resume from 1st April (or later).

• Roadside assistance will not be suspended. However, the service response time may be affected due to the limited availability of resources for the recovery of your scooter.

Best practices to follow for the scooter’s upkeep during a lockdown

• Ensure that your scooter’s charge level doesn’t reach 0. Charge every few days.

• Shutdown is recommended when SOC is less than 50%.

• If your vehicle is due for periodic servicing, keep a check on the brake pads for wearing and avoid usage in case the pads appear worn out.

A quick update on the lockdown effect on us

Hey @everyone,

All our on-ground operations like production, service, test rides etc. continue to be on hold across all cities. However design, R&D, software development & testing and planning functions continue to WFH. In parallel, processes are being laid out for all our on-ground activities, when the lockdown gets lifted.

We’ll share more details on the timelines on opening of Ather Space in Bengaluru, Chennai & Hyderabad; resuming service operations, Ather 450X test rides, production and delivery timelines as we are able to assess the scenario and have clarity for each of them.

A UV appliance to sanitize everyday things

We’ve been looking at working with organizations that are developing innovative products to fight COVID-19. One of them, Log9 Materials, a Bengaluru based startup has recently launched the Corona Oven, an appliance to sanitize everyday objects using UV lamps. It can be used by healthcare workers to sanitize masks and PPEs. At home it can be used for groceries, food deliveries amongst other things. Hey folks,

Now that the lockdown restrictions have been relaxed in Bangalore, here are some updates on resuming operations. But, Chennai is still under lockdown, and we’ll update when the situation changes. As per the government guidelines we are taking all necessary precautions, and are working with a fraction of our on-ground workforce. So, the turnaround time might be slightly higher for all our services. But, expect no drop in quality of service and safety standards.

Vehicle registration and deliveries

Vehicle registration will resume right away. But, we will first deliver the scooters which are already at Ather Space. Subsequent deliveries will resume gradually from 17th May 2020 as we get permission to transport vehicles within the city.

We are trying to speed things up as much as we can, but currently we are very low on on-ground staff and the RTO work is going to be slow-moving too. So the turnaround time might be higher than usual.

Be it sanitization, personal hygiene of using masks and gloves or social distancing we are taking all measures for the safety of our team and customers.

Servicing

Scheduled maintenance and servicing requests will resume soon in Bengaluru gradually. Our team will prioritize requests for interventions essential for the vehicle’s smooth functioning followed by periodic maintenance. If you have already raised a ticket in the past few weeks, our customer support team will get in touch with you to schedule an appointment.

If you have a request that’s not urgent, we urge you to hold off until we’re back at full capacity.

Test rides at Ather Space

Test rides for the Ather 450 will resume at Ather Space Bengaluru, but the number of slots will be low to begin with, as enforce social distancing at our Experience Centers.

We’re checking with the Ather Grid hosts on the availability and access to Grid points. We’ll update the status of the locations on your Ather app as and when the locations go live.

Unlike other scooters where once you buy the vehicle, you ride it and then live with it, the Ather 450 allows you to get more data, enabling you to understand, modify and control how you ride and own the product. Not just that, by using your ride data + aggregated data from thousands of Ather Owners, the insights becomes more useful and powerful than what can be gained with just your ride data.

With enough users on the road, we are introducing the Ather Monthly Log starting April, which will help you to understand your ride and usage patterns.

Note: You’ll get your Monthly Ride Log by the 10th of the subsequent month. The Monthly Ride Log is only available to those on any of the Ather subscription plans. Currently, the monthly ride log will not be sent out if you’ve driven less than 1 km in that month.

Hey folks,

The Tamil Nadu Government has relaxed the lockdown restrictions for Motorcycles/two-wheeler and car sales and service showrooms, and firms dealing in automobile spare parts. Following the government’s guidelines, vehicle servicing and deliveries are being resumed in Chennai.

We’re slowly resuming operations in Chennai and will be doing it in a staggered manner similar to Bengaluru. We are taking all possible precautions at Ather Space including sanitisation of the work space, use of masks/gloves/hand sanitisers by our service professionals and staff, and practising social distancing for a safe and smooth experience.

Vehicle deliveries

We are working with just a fraction of our on-ground staff, and will reach out to you once your vehicle is ready to be delivered. We’ll start off with the vehicles which were already transported from our factory in Bengaluru to Chennai. Subsequent deliveries will be subject to resumption of operations at your RTO, resumption of services by our HSRP number plate vendor, and permission for us to transport more vehicles from our factory in Bengaluru to Chennai.

Vehicle service

Servicing will resume shortly as well. If you’ve registered a service request during the lockdown, we’ll prioritise urgent interventions for the regular functioning of your Ather 450. If something is not urgent, do give us some time to attend to it, while we work towards getting back to full capacity.

Update on Ather 450X production and delivery timelines

Hey folks,

Many of you’ve been waiting for an update on your Ather 450X pre-orders, and our team has been working hard to estimate the impact on the production and delivery schedules. Since the lockdown restrictions have been relaxed in Bengaluru, we have started on-ground operations with a fraction of our team, as per government guidelines.

The long lockdown has had a ripple effect on the auto parts supply chain. Our original plan was to start production of the Ather 450X in July 2020, but that has been pushed further.

Production

As soon as our suppliers start operations again, we’ll be able to share an exact timeline on production. However, based on the revised estimate from our vendors, it looks like we’d be able to start producing the first batch Ather 450Xs in September-October 2020.

Deliveries

We are hoping to start deliveries no later than October 2020. Meanwhile, our team has been working on finalizing our retail partners and site locations for each city. Launch and start of delivery timelines will vary from city to city based on how quickly restrictions are lifted. We’ll get back to you with an exact timeline for your city, as we have more clarity.

Insurance and Financing

More options for insurance and financing is a frequent request from your community in Chennai and Bengaluru. We’ll be adding 3 more insurance options along with the one already available, and are also in talks with two big finance houses to increase the financing options. We’ll share more details when we make a formal announcement.

With the lockdown restrictions being relaxed, we’ve been reaching out to Ather Grid hosts to resume operations and to understand procedures to follow when you are using an Ather Grid fast charger at their location. After speaking with the hosts, we will be showing only the currently available ones on the app.

When you’re planning to charge at Ather Grid points, remember to:

1. Check the status of the Ather Grid location on the Ather app or the Ather Grid app before heading there. You can also take a look at the locations where hosts have permitted access to the chargers below.
2. Most Ather Grid locations are unmanned and open to the public, so do follow general precautions like sanitizing your hands after handling the charge connector, and wear a mask when you’re in a public location.

Ather Partners with Bounce Share

We are excited to announce a partnership with Bounce, which allows you to own an Ather 450 through an innovative ownership model, at lower ownership costs.

Bounce is a dockless scooter sharing platform, allowing you to rent a scooter for commutes. Bounce is launching a platform to develop a Peer-to-peer scooter sharing network in Bengaluru. Through this network, you can purchase a new scooter through Bounce, and earn money when you rent it out to Bounce customers.

How will this work?

Customers can purchase an Ather 450 by registering interest on the Bounce app. When you’re not using it for a few hours or days, you can list it on the Bounce app for rent. Bounce customers will be able to rent your Ather 450 by booking it through the Bounce app, pick up the scooter from your home and return it back when they’re done. Unlike the traditional model of renting dockless scooters, your scooter will always be with you for usage, and you meet the renter before allowing them to use it.

Ownership

The Ather 450 will be the first scooter being launched by Bounce through this program.

You can head over to the Bounce app to purchase the Ather 450 through the peer-to-peer scooter sharing network.The vehicle will be registered as a commercial vehicle in your name, to comply with the local laws. You can earn money for the duration that you share your scooter through the Bounce app. For example, if you rent out your Ather 450 purchased through this program on all weekends in a month, you can earn upto Rs. 2500 through Bounce.

Charging

The Ather 450 purchased through this program comes bundled with a portable charger, so you can easily handover the vehicle and the portable charger to the renter. The portable charger allows you to charge the scooter virtually anywhere. In addition, fast charging through Ather Grid is free for the first year, starting from the date of purchase.

Service and Connectivity

Owners purchasing through this program can subscribe to new Ather P2P Connect/Service plans. The change in plans is to account for multi-user scenarios, higher than regular usage and commercial usage, since such usage will see more wear and tear between scheduled services.

AtherP2P connect - ₹ 3,000/yr + GST (Includes Data connectivity for navigation and smart features, pipeline costs and data storage costs)

AtherP2P service - ₹ 10,200/yr + GST (Includes all benefits of AtherP2P Connect + Scheduled services)

Pricing

There will be a marginal increase in the on-road price for the Ather 450 purchased through this program, to account for increase in RTO processing and registration fees.

Due to these changes, the on-road pricing will be Rs.115,494, when purchased through Bounce.

The Ather One subscription plans offer perks like Roadside assistance, Doorstep pickup and drop, Home charging reimbursements, Fast charging at Ather Grid and all the connected & smart features. We’re glad that many of you’ve had a delightful experience owning the Ather 450, thanks to the Ather subscription plans.

As announced earlier, we had extended the subscription for all owners till 30 June 2020. We believe that the extended period of usage and the recently introduced monthly ride log should help you assess and opt for the right plan while renewing.

Please note that we have a minor price revision on the pricing for Ather One Service and Ather One 360 effective 1 July 2020.

Update on operations in Chennai

Hey folks,

Since Chennai is going under full lockdown till June 30, Ather Space will be closed, and vehicle service will not be available. We’ll still take service requests through the app and through customer service, but will be able to act on them only when restrictions are lifted. Deliveries have been paused temporarily. Please note that most Ather Grid locations will be unavailable as well, and we’ve updated the status on the App. We’ll communicate again when we have more information regarding operations resuming

Ather One pricing update for July-October

Hey folks,

We announced a new price for Ather One Subscription plans, and that it would be effective from 1st July, 2020. However, being sensitive to the current pandemic situation, we are pushing the effective date for this price revision by 3 months. So, if your complimentary subscription is ending, you can renew your Ather One subscription plans at the current quarterly equivalent prices for the next 3 months, to prevent any discontinuity in services and smart features.

Here are the rates at which you can renew your subscription:

• Ather One Connect: Rs. 750/quarter + GST
• Ather One Service: Rs. 1,500/quarter + GST
• Ather One 360: Rs. 2100/quarter + GST

Note: When your subscription renewal date is approaching, we’ll send you an email with a link to renew your subscription.

Charging at Ather Grid will continue to be accessible for free to all Ather owners till 1 October 2020, and hence Ather Charge will not be required as a subscription pack this quarter.
